Opening three days a week has been going smoothly, thanks to all of you who volunteer to work both downstairs and upstairs. The Thrift Shop Steering Committee will evaluate whether/when we should change our hours. We no longer quarantine donations, but the dressing room remains closed.
The committee has also been working on updating our Thrift Shop training for new members or anyone wishing to have a “refresher course”. I had forgotten how much there really is to learn and all the little things we have to be aware of. For example, can you answer this question?
How many panic buttons are there and where are they located? Answer: 3 One by Register Number 1 – One by the phone upstairs, near the kitchen – One by the “set the alarm” pad.
How about this question: How many emergency exits are available in the Thrift Shop? Answer: 3 – The main entry door, the Kaheka exit door and the upstairs makai wall exit door.
We will be setting up training. If you have not been in the shop for a long time, you will notice a few positive changes. The books have a new home in a large brown bookcase against the wall. Our “Asian Section” remains very attractive and well cared for. Our newest idea is the “The Last Chance Rack", a round rack where all clothing tagged with red tags are only $2.00! This has been very popular with our customers.
Happy 50th Anniversary to everyone.
