Council Meetings

There are no Council Meetings scheduled for the month of August

Recreation Opportunities

Lantzville Community Facilities

• The Lantzville Mental Fitness Trail had its grand opening on July 12^th. Please check it out and exercise your brain as well as your body. The signage has various tips about how to improve and maintain your mental health and where to get help. The trail is located at the intersection of Aulds Road and Clark Drive.
• Try out the Lantzville Lookout Loop trail located at 8310 Lorenzen Lane. Please plan for your trail hike with proper clothing, footwear and water.

City of Nanaimo

• Concerts in the Park are happening throughout the summer at various parks. They are free and feature a variety of local musicians. For more information, see the City of Nanaimo website. Concerts in the Park 2024 (nanaimo.ca)
• The water parks are open daily from 9:00am-8:00pm at Departure Bay Kiwanis Park, Deverill Square Park, Harewood Centennial Park and Mansfield Park. These are free and are a great way to cool off during the summer months.
• There are lifeguards at First Beach at Westwood Lake daily from June 28^th until September 2^nd, 11:30 am-5:30 pm, including statutory holidays.
• The City of Nanaimo Playground Program runs July 2^nd to August 30^th. Visit Deverill Square Park, Monday to Friday, 9:30am-4:00pm for free fun with our playground leaders. Regional District of Nanaimo

• Beat the Heat Skates at Oceanside Place Arena. Regular Admission. Saturdays, August 10^th, 24^th and 31^st from 12:00pm-1:30pm.
• RDN fall programs are viewable online and available for registration on Tuesday, August 13^th.
• Ravensong Aquatic Centre will be closed for annual maintenance August 17^th and will re-open September 8^th. 

Residents can nominate Lantzville candidates as recipients of a King Charles III Coronation Medal. The deadline for nominations is midnight on Wednesday, August 28^th. Go to this link for more information:

Sebastion Beach Road End: Call for Public Input

The process of designing the Sebastion Beach Road End is being initiated as per a Council motion passed at the July 24^th Council meeting.

Residents are invited to provide input on desired features such as greenspace, bike racks, washrooms, benches, or any other feature to complement this beautiful location.

Please send your ideas to Council by email to district@lantzville.ca, or by mail to 7192 Lantzville Road, P. O. Box 100, Lantzville, BC, V2R 2H0.

Residents may also drop off feedback in person at 7192 Lantzville Road (Municipal Hall) during business hours from 8:30am to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday excluding statutory holidays.

Input will be received until Wednesday, September 4^th, 2024, at 4:00pm.

Minetown Day is Drawing Near – Join the Community on August 17^th

The Seaside Community Society is continuing the preparations for the annual Minetown Day event taking place at Huddlestone Park on August 17, 2024.

If you would like to become a vendor or volunteer during the day, please contact the Seaside Community Society at: LantzvilleMTD@gmail.com.

Minetown Day – Road Closures 

Lantzville Road will be closed temporarily for the Kid’s Bike Parade from the north side of the intersection of Ware Road and Lantzville Road to Huddlestone Road from 10:15am-11:00am on Saturday, August 17, 2024, for the Minetown Day Kids Bike Parade.

Public parking is available at Municipal Hall (access via Dickinson Road) and on Lantzville School Road. There is no parking on Lantzville Road in front of Huddlestone Park, in the Huddlestone Park parking lot on Huddlestone Road.

A Broombuster Thank You!

Over the past 6 weeks, Broombusters has volunteered over 300 hours organizing and cutting Scotch Broom in our community.

Thank you Lantzville for supporting Broombusters by keeping your property and street frontage broom free. Your efforts make a huge difference towards Lantzville becoming a broom-free community.

Did You Know?

Bylaw 358 prohibits the removal of trees on greenfield (undeveloped) properties unless an exception is met. Bylaw 358 replaces Bylaw 331, which prohibited tree removal on properties greater than 1 acre.
