Update from the President & CEO:

Friends of the Gateway Region,

We’re a month into our new fiscal year, and we have begun to turn our attention to developing the next five-year strategic plan for our organization. We’re starting from a position of strength, as we’ve hit all the ambitious goals outlined in the plan even before we’ve reached the end of 2025. That’s impressive – and it’s the result of much collaboration and engagement with all of our partners and stakeholders across the region.

Known as “Transformative Growth 2025,” that strategic plan featured three key pillars: Facilitating Business Growth, Igniting Powerful Partnerships and Delivering Innovative Resources. We’re launching conversations now about how to build on our previous successes, including the opportunities introduced by our three new community members. We encourage you to share your thoughts and perspectives with us on where we should direct our attention for the next half-decade. This will be especially helpful as we seek to elevate Virginia’s Gateway Region economic development assets with potential investors in order to broaden economic prosperity within our market.

A visit at the end of the month provided a good launching point as we visited our colleagues at the Virginia Economic Development Partnership. We provided an update on what’s happened recently in the Gateway Region, including how Emporia and Brunswick and Greensville County are enriching our collective story.
