A Queen's Narrative

About Us

Hello Samantha,

When I first started my career, I didn’t see the need for a mentor. I was confident, eager to take risks, and proud of my independence. I often heard, “You should get a mentor,” but I felt confident charging ahead on my own. What I didn’t fully appreciate at the time was that my journey wasn’t solely driven by my own efforts. I was fortunate to have mentors—people who, even when I wasn’t fully aware of it, were offering guidance and support that shaped my personal and professional growth. Read more.

Sometimes you have to believe in someone else's belief in you...until your own belief kicks in! The people you are with can have a huge impact on you. Choose wisely and courageously. Align yourself with people that you can learn from, people who want more out of life, people who are stretching and searching and seeking some higher ground in life. You Deserve! ~Les Brown

Recap of our "Books Over Brunch" Event

We have so much to say about this month’s Books Over Brunch event! First and foremost, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to making it such a success. In a sold-out room, we had the incredible opportunity to connect, network, and celebrate each other’s achievements. A special shoutout goes to our 18 amazing sponsoring organizations, whose financial support helped create an unforgettable experience for both the authors and guests. Our success is a result of collaboration with our vendor partners like Penthouse 650, Touch of Class Balloons Event & Decor, Davey Harris Photography, Vision Entertainment, MAC Family Enterprise, and Tony Digital.

Heavy is the Crown is Available on Amazon

Check out our photo gallery that captures some of the highlights from this event. This event marks the official launch of our ‘’Heavy is the Crown” Anthology that is now available on Amazon. All proceeds raised from the sale of the book goes toward our young queens youth development program.

To our Authors and Editor

This project would not have been possible without the incredible BIPOC women who came together over the last nine months to make it happen. We are deeply grateful to them for sharing their voices and shedding light on the many issues that affect us as women of color. This event was our first opportunity to gather in person, proudly lifting our crowns in celebration of this book and the new connections we've forged. A special thank you to our editor, Dr. Nicole Young-Martin, for helping us bring this dream to life and turning this project and event into a reality.

Join the Movement!

A Queen's Narrative invites you to join us as a new advisory board member. We deeply value the diversity, experiences, and insights of women of color who are passionate about collaboration, networking, and advancing social issues that impact women and girls of color. For the past six years, A Queen’s Narrative has created a safe, welcoming, and inclusive space for women and girls to come together. Many people have asked how they can help or expressed a desire to get involved. Before saying yes, we wanted to ensure we had a structured plan in place to support our volunteers.

We are excited to announce this new opportunity to welcome more diverse thoughts, ideas and voices at our table. We know this work can’t advance with more community involvement. So, does this sound like something for  you? Join us today as we come to advance the mission and vision of A Queen’s Narrative!

Youth Mental Health Tabling Celebration

In June, we had a fantastic opportunity for our young queens to showcase their work at the Youth Mental Health Celebration at the Basketball Hall of Fame, hosted by the Youth Mental Health Coalition. This event brought together community partners and organizations to promote mental health awareness and address problem gambling among youth. Attendees participated in a Data Walk, learning about these important topics, and enjoyed the beautiful artwork created by our young queens.

As our youth program wraps up this month, we’re thrilled to see the incredible growth of our participants. Over the past 12 weeks, they’ve honed skills in creativity, crafting, and self-expression, while building their marketing, public speaking, and self-esteem. We’ve watched them overcome setbacks and support one another, blossoming into true artists.

We hope to keep our cohort connected through future tabling events in the community. Be on the lookout for these talented young artists near you!

A special thanks to Kahli Hernandez for his creativity and visionary spirit, and to Teka Jones for her lively energy in helping our young queens build confidence and step out of their shells.

Stay connected with us on Facebook and Instagram to learn about our next session, and visit A Queen's Narrative to learn more about our work.
