mspWellness Champion Highlight

As an mspWellness champion organization, Southeast Service Cooperative (SSC), a public non-profit organization in Rochester, has cultivated a flexible, family-friendly environment and deeply supports work-life integration practices. SSC recently incorporated a pickleball court on its newly blacktopped parking lot.

As part of the organization’s wellness strategy, employees are welcome to play whenever it fits into their work/life schedule. The executive director at SSC shows incredible leadership support, and even plays alongside staff members. Nicole LaChapelle-Strumski, wellbeing coordinator at SSC, shared, “Staff members have enjoyed learning the rules of pickleball and playing spirited games together. The amount of camaraderie and laughter observed during and after games has been such a delight to see! Staff members have shared that they will now be playing the game in their personal lives as well.”

World Car-Free Day aims to create awareness and educate communities about alternatives to driving alone. Launched in Spain in 1996, World Car-Free Day is observed in 1,500 cities and more than 40 countries.

Individuals throughout the Minneapolis-Saint Paul (MSP) region are encouraged to get around without reaching for the car keys. Switch up how you travel by trying public transit or by biking, walking, rolling, or teleworking. Carpooling and carshare also count!

Throughout September 2022, partner organizations will be promoting events and resources for individuals to learn about how to get around without a car and to experience car-free spaces in their communities. Living Well with mspWellness

As your HR leaders are finalizing plans for 2023 benefits don’t forget to include time to learn about Community Living Well with mspWellness!

As employers you pay the expense of rising health care costs, many of which are preventable. As a partnership, we are focused on some of the top cost drivers we all share, working to improve mental health, reduce musculoskeletal issues, and prevent heart disease and diabetes. Running concurrent campaigns across multiple organizations amplifies the reach and impact as opposed to operating independently.

HealthPartners Community Living Well solution takes a tiered approach to well-being:

  • Individual participants gain insights into their health status and lifestyle risk factors and are supported to make positive change through access to research-based activities and resources to meet them at their level of need.
  • Employers receive strategic planning consultation, robust reporting, and program customizations to drive engagement in their population – leading to a workforce that feels cared for and supported in their well-being all while lowering health risk and increasing productivity.
  • Working in collaboration among employer groups and HealthPartners broader community health and well-being themes are determined and addressed throughout the year.

We invite you to reach out to HealthPartners to learn more about the Community Living Well options!
