We warmly welcome our chapter members to our 2024-2025 season.
We are back in full swing with an amazing slate of activities, some of which have already happened, and others you’ll be hearing about regularly.
|
We all enjoyed the wonderful activities organized by Summer Camp Chairs, Susie Sacks and Ronee Siegel.
Thanks to our outstanding Study Group VPs, Carol Kadet, Harriet Schwartz and Barbara Stern and their committee, we have 110 groups - the largest number of Study Groups in our history.
Thanks to VPs of Event Planning, Wendy Cohen and Ellen Kirschenbaum and their Event Chairs, Carrol Gottfried and Pearle Marr, who made our Welcome Back Fiesta Dinner a success.
Thanks to Membership VPs, Laurie Burns and Gale Stam and their committee, for introducing new and prospective members to our chapter at new member socials.
|
We learned about this year’s Book & Author speakers at the Author Reveal/Volunteer Sign-up meeting, captained by Book & Author Volunteer Chairs Michelle Fischler, Terriann Kleiner and Beth Messer.
Thanks to Book & Author VPs, Patti Grossman, Ileen Herberg and Joellyn Pollock and their committees. We look forward to a fabulous B&A in February!

University on Wheels 2025
What is University on Wheels? |
Each January we are honored to host a visiting Brandeis professor for our
annual University on Wheels event. It is a wonderful learning opportunity, since the topics are
quite varied, as well as a wonderful opportunity to socialize with your Brandeis friends at a local hotel.
Although we don't yet know this year's speaker and topic, in the past we have been
introduced to professors from a variety of disciplines such as Film, Behavioral Economics,
Psychology of Literature, Politics, Journalism and a variety of sciences.
Additional details and registration information will be provided in your inbox shortly. We look
forward to seeing you at this event.

Table Captains
at Book & Author
| |
|
You can be a Table Captain!
It's not too early to be thinking about being a Table Captain at Book & Author
What does it mean to be a Table Captain?
Table Captains gather their friends together to form one or more tables of 10 at the event and inform the committee chairs below. One table can have two co-Captains.
Your friends register and pay for the luncheon on their own, and will enter your name in the box that asks about seating.
Table Captains will have a ribbon attached to their name badge, allowing them to enter the ballroom early, in order to put down place cards for each person at their table(s), if they choose to do so.
In appreciation of those becoming Table Captains, we will invite you
to a Table Captain Brunch in January 2025.
Hillary Kaminsky, Ruth Lerner, Susie Sacks and Linda Ullman, Committee Chairs

Spotlight on Study Groups
|
STUDY GROUP REGISTRATION CONTINUES!
Study Group registration has been very robust with over 2300 registrations for our 110 study groups. We've had more than 580 individual registrants and collected over $56,000 to date.
There is still availability for over 60% of the study groups. If you are looking for some groups to join, please go to the registration website and browse through the options.
| |
We are happy to report that the registration process went smoothly using a new system that was implemented. A great big thank you to Sara Leopold and Marcia Langer who were instrumental in getting the rosters out to our facilitators in a timely manner. In addition, a huge shout-out is due to Bonnie Furst, Georgia Heller, Elaine Howard, Carol Mangen, Beth Messer, Donna Mills and Judy Rosen, who helped during registration to monitor our email box and answer questions.
As a reminder, registrants who registered after September 30 would be wise to contact the facilitators to let them know they have joined the group.
If anyone has an idea for a group they would like to facilitate for our Winter season, please email phxstudygroups@gmail.com
| |
SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT FULL GROUPS:
Even a group that has reached its maximum participation may have openings from time to time - if you are interested in a particular group, contact the facilitator(s) to see if space is available. Very often there is! Look in the study group guide for group details, which include contact information for the facilitators. A $5 guest fee will apply.

Museum of Firefighting
Tuesday, November 5
10:00 am
| |
|
On Tuesday, November 5 at 10:00 am, the Men of Brandeis will tour the Hall of Flame on 6101 E. Van Buren Street in Phoenix. The museum has over 130 wheeled pieces in the collection. There are over 10,000 smaller objects, all of which relate to the history of firefighting. | Hall of Flame has six exhibit galleries. Visitors receive an exhibits catalogue which describes the major exhibits. Each gallery is identified by a numbered plaque that corresponds to a description in the catalogue. | This is the second time the MOB has visited the museum, It was the very first tour the MOB did at its inception over ten years ago. Since then the museum has grown in size. | After the tour, the MOB will enjoy lunch at a local eatery to be determined. |
Guests (men and women) are welcome for a $5.00 guest fee.
ALL participants must RSVP to the facilitator in advance in order to attend.
For additional information or to RSVP, contact the facilitator:
