TORONTO COMMUNITY NEWS UPDATE

Hello Toronto Community,

In case you missed it, we are having a Community Connect Information Event on Thursday, March 5 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at The Primrose (2 Primrose Avenue, Toronto) and we hope you can make it!

At the event you can interact with our team, ask any questions you may have about our upcoming public meeting with the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission in May, and discover how we create the fuel that powers Ontario with clean energy and facilitates the production of life-saving nuclear medicine.

Please find below some other updates. As always, reach out if you have any questions.

Kind regards,

Kathleen Augustin

Focus Group Invitation

BWXT is inviting members of the community to take part in an upcoming focus group discussion about our operations and how we engage with the community.

We have commissioned Abacus Data, a leading Canadian market research and public opinion firm, to independently conduct these discussions and provide a third-party perspective. The goal is to better understand community awareness and gather feedback on how we can improve communication and engagement.

If you are interested in participating, please click the link below. It will take you to a short survey designed to gauge your interest and availability:

Please note that completing the survey does not guarantee participation. Not everyone who indicates interest will be selected, and final recruitment will be conducted by Abacus Data, not BWXT. We appreciate your time and consideration and look forward to hearing from members of our community.

At BWXT in Toronto we manufacture ceramic pellets from natural uranium dioxide powder. After pressing, baking, grinding and inspecting the pellets, we send them to our Peterborough facility where they are placed in CANDU® fuel bundles. Both our Peterborough and Toronto facilities are licensed by Canada’s nuclear regulator, the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC). Approximately 40 people work at BWXT in Toronto in high-value manufacturing positions, engineering and operations support. The pellets manufactured by our employees in Toronto are placed into fuel bundles in Peterborough and go on to power 25% of Ontario!
