| | 2024 Annual Compliance Report Available | | |
BWXT Medical is licensed by Canada’s nuclear regulator, the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC). As part of our licence, we submit a comprehensive Annual Compliance Report to the CNSC each year to demonstrate adherence to our commitment to operate a safe Class IB nuclear substance processing facility, as well as demonstrate compliance with the applicable regulations and licence conditions set by the CNSC.
The Annual Compliance Report, which is reviewed by CNSC Staff, provides information related to our performance across the CNSC’s 14 Safety and Control Areas.
The 2024 report is available to the public and can be viewed on our website at bwxtmedical.com.
| | Councillor Curry Visits BWXT Medical | | |
A few months ago, we had the pleasure of hosting Councillor Cathy Curry for a meeting and tour to share more about the important work that occurs in Kanata to support the nuclear medicine industry.
We were fortunate to learn more about events happening in the community and to be spotlighted in Councillor Curry’s March Community Newsletter!

This June, BWXT Medical will be holding a drill to practise our emergency response.
Like many businesses, we regularly conduct drills to ensure our employees and local first responders know what to do in the event of an emergency at our site. We have a comprehensive Emergency Preparedness Program and work closely with our landlord, Nordion, to ensure a coordinated response.

Dream Career Discovery Expo
In April, BWXT Medical participated in the Build A Dream Career Discovery Expo at the E.Y. Centre in Ottawa. The event, aimed at high-school girls from the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board, focused on providing insights into careers where women are underrepresented, fostering a balanced workforce and reshaping perceptions about women's roles in various sectors. In collaboration with Women in Nuclear (WiN) Canada, our representatives engaged with enthusiastic students who were eager to learn more about the nuclear medicine industry.

Industry Speaker Night
A few years ago, BWXT Medical established three awards to support student learning at the University of Ottawa. Since then, we have been engaged with their Engineering Students’ Society through speaking engagements and a tour. Earlier this year, our Director of Engineering, Emily Porter, attended Industry Speaker Night where she had the opportunity to speak to engineering students. Emily provided an introduction to nuclear medicine, sharing insights into the global nuclear medicine market, as well as an in-depth overview of BWXT Medical's operations. We look forward to continuing to support local learning in the Ottawa region.

POGO PJ Party
As sponsors of the Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario (POGO), some of our employees had the honour of attending their annual POGO Pajama Party earlier this year. The evening featured inspiring keynote speakers who shared their personal journeys, reminding us of the resilience of those impacted by pediatric cancer. Their stories of hope and courage resonated deeply with everyone in attendance. In addition to supporting POGO, we also recently provided funding to one of their partner organizations, CHEO, through a corporate donation to the Oncology Department and Cardiology Department. Thank you to POGO and CHEO for all of the important work they do for families in our community.
