#SHOPLOCALMACOMB
Shoppers have a big reason to shop small in Macomb County this holiday season: a chance to win one of five $500 gift cards donated by First State Bank. The gift card giveaway is part of Shop Local Macomb, a campaign that supports locally owned and operated businesses.

"Macomb County has more than 1,600 independently owned and operated retailers," said County Executive Mark A. Hackel. "These businesses help create a distinct sense of place in each of our 27 communities, and we would like to encourage residents to support them by shopping locally this holiday season."

Now in its third year, the initiative features a social media photo contest that starts on Friday, Nov. 29 and runs through Sunday, Dec. 8. Five winners will be randomly selected at noon on Monday, Dec. 9 during a Facebook Live session on the Make Macomb Your Home Facebook page. Information on how to enter as well as an interactive map of more than 1,600 retailers can be found here. The site also features information submitted by local retailers about special sales and events.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP STRATEGIC VISION PLAN
Clinton Township has initiated a process to create a strategic plan to outline a vision for the future of the community. This planning process will create a platform to guide and align local leaders, stakeholders, and the community toward a strategic vision.

As a valued community member, your input is key to the plan's success! A survey has been developed to gain insight into key issues the township is facing and to determine the preferred community vision for the future of Clinton Township. Your feedback will help to shape the plan's goals and recommendations and inform local leaders of priority community needs.

Networking Opportunities

Why BRAG™??

What is it that drives a business to join a Chamber of Commerce? The answer to that question for many business owners is "more business" for their services. Chambers specialize is organizing events that highlight the services of their members, and share these services within their membership.

The Sterling Heights Regional Chamber offers a trademarked service which is available for their members called B.R.A.G. or Business Resource Alliance Groups. These groups meet weekly and use networking techniques that help develop professional relationships that turn into warm referrals. There can be many different strategies to networking, and BRAG can be a tool utilized in your strategies.

Statistics show that the average person knows 250 people. That translates into 250 possible referrals per member in a group. Apply the math and the results will give a BRAG member exposure to 5,750 possible customers from members of their BRAG group, and this number doesn't include other contacts with other groups the member will meet.

According to "Network Statistics," nearly 60 percent of all new contacts are found through networking. Referrals generated from networking are 80 percent more effective than "Cold Calls." Networking can be extremely successful if you allow it to be, and is a learned skill that needs to be developed. In order to optimize networking skills, an individual must approach the opportunities with the right attitude.

Utilizing BRAG can be an extremely useful way to improve your business exposure and generate more business for you and the other members of the BRAG group.

For more information on how to take advantage of this Chamber benefit please contact Patty Le Duc, BRAG administrator, at 586.731.5400 ext. 21 or pleduc@shrcci.com .
