Generator Update
Thank you so much to all of our donors who so generously responded to our call for donations for a back-up generator for Bishop Grady Villas! As of March 2018 we have raised more than $25,000 from individual donations!

This month, The Florida Legislature recently ratified the Department of Elder Affairs' proposed generator rule. This rule will require all Assisted Living Facilities with more than 17 beds to implement the following concerning their alternate power source:

  • Required 72 hours of fuel on the premises
  • Required 80% of capacity for area cooled
  • Steady temperature of 81 degrees or lower must be maintained
  • Installation by July 2018 if extensions are not requested
  • If an extension is granted, installation by January 2019

Funding has also been sought from various foundations. Current estimates place this project at more than $100,000. We will keep you updated as we progress!

If you would like to contribute toward the Bishop Grady Villas generator project, you may do so below or you can send a check to Bishop Grady Villas and write "generator" in the memo field.

Thank you!
So then, while we have the opportunity, let us do good to all, but especially to those who belong to the family of the faith.
- Galatians 6:10
As part of our promise for Lent to serve others, our residents and Adult Day Training (ADT) participants have been collecting canned goods and delivering them to the St. Cloud Food Pantry and St. Rose of Lima Food Pantry.

"I love helping other people and I love to deliver our canned goods to the community," said Steven Foster, a Bishop Grady Villas' ADT participant. "I like to help them put food on their shelves and I like to help hungry people."

First Interns of Bishop Grady Villas' Project SEARCH Near Graduation!
With a month and half left until our inaugural Project SEARCH interns complete their nine months of on-the-job rotations at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Spa in Kissimmee, three out of the seven have received job offers or have already started at their new places of employment.

With employment offers from Lowe's Distribution Center, Walt Disney World, and Publix, these interns have made the most of their experience over the past year.

"I am very passionate about my new job at Publix," said 19 year old Cristo Karafarias. "It is good employment and has lots of opportunities to learn and move up. It is awesome that I can now help pay bills and rent at my house."

Bishop Grady Villas is also expanding its Project SEARCH program to an additional site at Florida Hospital in Altamonte Springs beginning fall 2018 in collaboration with Seminole County Public Schools.
