The Blaine-Birch Bay Park and Recreation District 2 is overwhelmed with gratitude as we extend a heartfelt thank you to all the incredible individuals who have supported us throughout this campaign to renew our levy. Your unwavering dedication and support have made a significant impact on our community, and we are truly grateful.
On February 13, 68.94% of voters said "YES" to renewing the funding for Blaine and Birch Bay Park and Recreation District 2 for another six years!
From writing Letters to the Editor, to running committees, doing presentations, and even waving signs, your actions have not gone unnoticed. Each and every effort has contributed to making BBBPRD2 a stronger and more vibrant community.
It is because of your unwavering support that our levy has been approved, securing our funding for the next six years. With this approval, we can continue to provide activities and programs that benefit everyone in our community. We are grateful for the trust and confidence placed in us, and we are committed to using this funding responsibly and effectively. Together, we will continue to make a positive difference in our community and create a better future for all.

Illuminate Birch Bay this Saturday
The day is finally here! After having to reschedule this event back in January, we are excited to hold our very first luminary walk along the Birch bay berm this Saturday. Make or bring a lighted lantern and join us for a magical luminary walk along the berm. Bring your own homemade lantern to the Birch Bay Activity Center, and we'll place it along the path for you. Or bring your own lights and lanterns and walk with us. Meet at the Birch Bay Library at 6 p.m. for a cup of hot cocoa or warm cider, courtesy of Friends of Blaine-Birch Bay Park and Rec, or a cup of coffee from Sweet Nectar Beverage Trailer. Then, make your way along the berm and 600 lanterns all the way to Beach Cat Brewery and Shores Restaurant for drink specials, food and more!
See you Saturday at 6 p.m.!

Wings Over Water Northwest Birding Festival 2024
As usual, Blaine-Birch Bay Park and Recreation District 2 is excited to sponsor and provide kids activities for the Wings Over Water Birding Festival. On Saturday, March 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., kids will flock to the Blaine Pavilion to participate in arts & crafts provided by local Ellen Clark and us. Let's Pour!
We had a great, and productive, time at our "Let's Pour" event on Saturday, February 17! We learned the art of acrylic pouring under the guidance of our very own Laura Nesse.
We have another session of Let's Pour scheduled for Saturday, March 16 and have made a few extra spots available.

Another win for our Pickleball Pro Coach Mark Livingston in Arizona!
He won Gold at the PPA Mesa tourney (also doubling as the Arizona Cup, the state championship of Arizona) along with Bob Dunst, his men's doubles partner shown here on the podium. They won gold at the 4.0 skill level, 60-69 age bracket."

Learn from Coach Mark!
As you may have heard, Coach Mark will be leaving Washington State to be closer to his family at the end of Summer. While we will miss him very much around here, we are grateful for the legacy he is leaving here at the Birch Bay Activity Center, and that we get him for one more season!
His first lessons are scheduled to start back in April, and sessions are starting to fill already. Don't miss the chance to learn from the best before he leaves us - register now for his Intro to Pickleball or Workouts with Coach Mark. Whether you're a beginner looking to learn how to play or an experienced player looking to refine your skills, Coach Mark has something to offer for everyone. New Running Group
Introducing our brand new Running Program!
We are excited to announce the launch of our brand new Running Program! Our program will kick off with a running group led by experienced ultra marathoner Coach Kyle Long. This is a perfect opportunity for anyone who wants to start running or improve their running skills. The group will prepare for a 5k and meet every Monday at 6 p.m. Please note that the location will vary but will remain within Blaine and Birch Bay.
This program is built in cooperation with the free Beach Cat Running Group, that trains every Thursday in Birch Bay. Members of the Monday Running Group with Kyle are welcome to join the Beach Cat Running Group on Thursdays for additional training. The running group will run for nine weeks, starting from Monday, April 1st to Monday, May 27th. The cost for all nine weeks is $40. Don't miss out on this amazing opportunity to take your running to the next level with Coach Kyle Long and our Running Program!

Three bootcamps in March
The next session of our bootcamp series starts this Monday. This session will last 4 weeks: the perfect way to get stronger and feel better right before Spring Break!
$26 gets you two classes a week for four weeks with a motivating and experienced instructor:
- Angela leads the Early Bird Bootcamp at the Birch Bay Activity Center every Tuesday and Thursday from 6 to 6:45 a.m.
- Kate leads Cardio Fusion at the Blaine Pavilion every Wednesday and Friday from 7 to 7:45 a.m.
- and Jenn leads the Blaine Evening Bootcamp at the Blaine Pavilion every Monday and Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m.

Strength Fundamentals moving to Mondays at 3:30 p.m. starting March 11.
We are very fortunate to have Kyle Long, an experienced trainer and accomplished athlete on our team of instructors. Kyle has led fitness classes around the country and has extensive experience working with a wide range of gym-goers, from beginners or participants requiring modifications, to professional athletes.
Starting March 11, Kyle's Strength Fundamentals class is moving to Mondays at 3:30 p.m. This class will help you become stronger and focus on proper form to reduce the risk of injuries.
He is also teaching his Functional Mobility classes to help you move better using foam rolling techniques and range of motion exercises every Monday and Wednesday at 7 a.m.
These classes require no registration, and are just a $3 drop-in!

After School Enrichment for March
Registration is open for our After School Enrichment Classes in March. These sessions take place in the covered area of the Blaine Elementary School until 4:30 p.m. and cost only $5/child/day/. Best of all, kids get to play, create, and learn in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.

Next Teen Strength Training Session Starts on March 11
The Teen Strength Training Camp with Coach Kyle Long is back for a new session for three weeks in March, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. from March 11 to March 29.
This 3-week course is designed to introduce youths to the primary concepts of strength programming, with an emphasis on teaching proper gym etiquette, movement technique and methods of progressing a strength training program over time. We believe strongly that educating participants at a young age on both the benefits and the proper implementation of strength training will encourage a lifetime of healthy movement as well as athletic development for sport.
This is a great opportunity for anyone who participated in the fall program to continue building strength and movement as we transition toward spring!
Coach Kyle brings 17 years of coaching experience to the course as well as 15 years of experience as both a professional soccer player and ultra-runner. He specializes in building strength training programs for individuals of all ages and abilities.
Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Birch Bay Activity Center.
$30 for all three weeks, three times a week.
Pre-registration is necessary.

Don't miss this exciting opportunity for your child to embark on a thrilling spy adventure! Join us for an action-packed week filled with secret missions, mysterious clues, and thrilling challenges.
July 29 - Aug. 1: Outdoor Survival - Birch Bay State Park - Heron Center.
This camp is designed to teach children important survival skills while also providing an engaging outdoor experience. Activities will include learning how to build a shelter and navigate using a map and compass among other exciting games and challenges!

Babysitting Class
Do you have a teen interested in babysitting? The best way to get them started is for them to take a babysitting class. The Blaine-Birch Bay Park and Rec is offering one next month at the Birch Bay Activity Center.
This in-person, 2.5-hour long, babysitting training program is intended primarily for teenagers and others who are planning to provide babysitting services for young children and infants. The program includes instruction on the business of babysitting, proper supervision, basic caregiving skills, and guidelines on how to recognize and handle problems that may occur. This program is not intended to meet any regulatory requirements for childcare providers.
This program has no prerequisites but additional training in CPR, AED, and first aid is highly recommended.
At the end of the training session, if the student has demonstrated adequate knowledge and skill competency, the Instructor will issue a certification card.
Space is limited and registration is required.

Family Movie Night
The last movie night of the season (already!) will take place on Friday, March 15 at 7:30 p.m. We will be showing "Migration", by the same people who brought us The Minions and the Super Mario movie, and right in time for Wings Over Water!
Family Movie Nights are free with free popcorn too. No registration is required, just come to the Birch Bay Activity Center with something comfy to sit on (or you can borrow one of our folding chairs) and enjoy!

Blaine-Birch Bay Park and Recreation District 2 is thrilled to invite you to the second annual Daughter's Choice Dance! This year, we're taking you to Candyland for a night of sweet fun and dancing.
This dance is for girls and their special someone(s) - whether it's mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, siblings, or a friend, everyone is welcome!
