...just a moment to "kvell". Congratulations to Slick Katz on becoming a Deputy Sheriff in Brunswick County. Prayers for his safety, and "mazel tov" to you and Laurie as you serve and protect. We are grateful for your help in orchestrating our safety and security at Bnai Israel and wish you well on this new challenge.
For a quiet August, we seem to have lots going on. Committees are forming to seek our new Rabbinic and Spiritual leadership as Rabbi Kozlow prepares to leave. I look forward to hearing from everyone as we look for leadership that best fills all of our needs. Our diversity, uniqueness, and yet unity best describes our Congregation. This is a good time for all to network with their friends and relatives and let them know we are looking to succeed an amazing and wonderful Rabbi with someone who shares our values and vision. The best candidates often come from the most unusual places.
Coming up are movies from our Wilmington Jewish Film Festival, our monthly dinner at Good Shepherd, a wonderful week being planned by Michelle Bannon and Rena Goldwasser to "Bake and Make", our annual Meet and Greet at Art and Bloom Gallery, a timely and provocative Sisterhood Book Club selection and meeting and of course mark your calendars for our annual SHUL DAY on September 15th. A wonderful Israeli Breakfast will be served and representatives from all of our organizations will be on hand. See our newsletter, and website for more information.
Efraim Jaronowski and the Men's Club are again putting together our Yahrzeit Book of Remembrance. Please see information below.
Finally, as you leave Friday night, say a Yasher Koach yet again to our amazing VP, Harold Eichenholz, for replacing our front light posts on Chestnut Street. He continues to light our path and set the standard for dedication and commitment.
Shabbat Shalom see you in Shul,

First, many thanks to Judy Malman for hosting the recent book club meeting at Carolina Bay.
We had a very enjoyable discussion of poems across 3 decades written by Judith Viorst: the travails and the pleasures of later life, the ways we age in our marriages and our bodies, the evolving relationships with our children and our friends, the things we discover about ourselves, the ways we can cope and can cultivate a sense of humor about our lives. Thank you to everyone for choosing and reading your decade-poems with the group.
Our next meeting will be Wednesday, September 18th, 1-3 PM. Joelle Serot has graciously offered to host. Her address is 1024 Lindenwood Drive, Leland 28451. Her phone number is 703-909-7559. We will organize a caravan of drivers, departing from Panera's on Oleander. Our book is the provocative novel by Philip Roth, The Plot Against America.
The book club is open to all Bnai Israel Sisterhood members. If you'd like to participate and to be added to our email list, please contact: firstname.lastname@example.org.
