Security has become our number one concern and priority, and our new systems are in place. It is a safe feeling to know that our building is locked, and cameras are in place to monitor entry. I think we all we agree that the inconvenience is worth the safety. On that note, the Wilmington Police Department will be here on Wednesday at 1 pm to present the highly recommended ALICE response program.
Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate. Security has become our number one concern and we are taking every measure and precaution and to be better prepared. I encourage anyone that can attend this program to try to make it. Call Kate in our office for more information.

this life-saving training.

An ALICE Training Instructor from the Wilmington Police Department will lead our class to provide preparation and a plan for us on how to more proactively handle the threat of an aggressive intruder or active shooter event. Whether it is an attack by an individual person or by an international group of professionals intent on conveying a political message through violence, ALICE Training option-based tactics have become the accepted response, versus the traditional "lock-down only" approach.
Protection and safety must be the priority in an Active Shooter event or Terrorist Attack. Circumstantial and operational concerns vary in every new situation. ALICE Training provides options
that address the unique challenges specific to houses of worship.
ALICE is the leading training solution that increases an organization's and individual's odds of survival during a violent intruder event. It is a post-Columbine, Virginia Tech, Sandy Hook strategy that goes beyond the conventional lock down.

Sleeping Mats for the Homeless
We are in great need of volunteers!
Hello everyone! Just one more week till the B'nai Israel Bag Ladies (& Gents!) kickoff meeting on June 10, 10 am - 12 Noon at synagogue. Snacks, instructions, and all materials are provided. We will gather every other Monday and ALL are invited. Any time that you can give us on a regular basis will be appreciated.
Use Crochet Needles P or Q
Knitting Needles = Circular 15 or 19
or what is comfortable for you.
There is a sample mat on display in the synagogue auditorium. I invite everyone who is interested to bring their friends to our meetings as well.
If you don't want to knit or crochet,
you could cut bags into strips and wind that into balls.
OR you could just cut OR just wind!
VERY EASY! That's PLARN making.
Three mats are in the works, and we need an on-going supply of the plarn balls to make this sustainable. There are SO many who need the mats and UNLIMITED plastic bags that need to be recycled!!!
Hope to see you on June 10th, or please contact me for further information. Our hope is to make this a permanent, ongoing BI project. It brings our community together and it's the Jewish thing to do!!
