When Homework Becomes a Battle:
What Your Child’s Brain May Have to Do With It
| |
Homework can turn an ordinary evening into a daily struggle.
You ask your child to get started.
They avoid it.
You remind them again.
They get frustrated.
YOU get frustrated.
Before long, a simple worksheet has become a full-scale battle...
and everyone walks away feeling defeated.
If this sounds familiar, it’s easy to assume your child is being lazy, unmotivated, defiant, or simply “not trying.”
But sometimes, homework has less to do with willingness and more to do with how efficiently the brain is processing the demands of the task.

| October is ADHD Awareness Month | | |
LearningRx Cresskill proudly supports ADHD Awareness Month this October.
ADHD can affect important cognitive skills such as attention, focus, working memory, processing speed, and executive functioning. Children and adults with ADHD may experience challenges with staying focused, organizing information, completing tasks, or managing everyday demands.
At LearningRx Cresskill, we use one-on-one cognitive training to target the underlying thinking skills involved in learning and everyday functioning. Our goal is to help individuals strengthen cognitive skills, build confidence, and develop strategies that can support greater success at school, work, and in daily life.
This October, let’s promote understanding, celebrate strengths, and support individuals with ADHD.
| | About LearningRx Cresskill | | |
At LearningRx Cresskill, we understand that both children and adults can face challenges with essential skills such as reading, attention, memory, and processing information. Without strong cognitive skills, children often struggle to learn, which can make school frustrating even for bright and hardworking students. Whether you are a parent concerned about your child’s progress in school, a student who wants to improve learning and focus, or an adult looking to sharpen thinking skills, we are here to support you every step of the way.
Our personalized brain training programs are designed for children (ages 5 and up) and adults and focus on strengthening the core cognitive skills that make learning, working, and everyday thinking easier. In our monthly newsletters, you will find helpful brain tips, inspiring success stories, and special offers created to help learners of all ages grow in confidence and reach their full potential. At LearningRx Cresskill, we are proud to partner with families and individuals in our community as they take steps toward stronger thinking and lifelong learning.
| | A New Resource for Parents Navigating ADHD | | New Resource: Dr. Amy's Book is Available Now! | |
Parenting a child with ADHD can bring incredible moments of joy, but it can also come with big emotions, challenging behaviors, and moments when parents may wonder, “Why is this so hard?”
We’re excited to share a wonderful new resource for families: Hearts On ADHD Parenting: Brain-Based, Grace-Filled Strategies for Raising Kids with Big Emotions and Challenging Behaviors by Dr. Amy Moore.
Drawing on brain science, personal experience, and faith, Dr. Moore’s book helps parents better understand the brain differences associated with ADHD and offers practical, compassionate strategies for navigating everyday challenges. Rather than focusing simply on behavior, the book encourages parents to understand what may be happening beneath the behavior and approach their children with greater knowledge, connection, and grace.
At LearningRx Cresskill, we believe that understanding how the brain learns is an important part of helping children and families thrive. We’re always looking for resources that empower parents with knowledge and practical strategies, and we’re pleased to share this new book with our community.
If you’re raising a child with ADHD—or know a family who is—this may be a valuable resource to add to your reading list.
Learn more and get your copy today: Hearts On ADHD Parenting is now available on Amazon.

"We have been part of LearningRx for the past 3 months and have been very impressed with our experience. Our son loves going, and the office is welcoming and organized. We have already seen progress in the short time he’s been participating in LearningRx. His goals are specific, and he has a specific path for achieving them. His perseverance, problem-solving, and ability to focus have already seen improvement. I am particularly impressed by the staff, their office culture, and the way they keep our son engaged and on track."
