Canada's Oldest Guest Ranch steeped in the tradition of the West. A lakeside village of 40 log buildings FROM THE 1800's, NESTLED on 1000 acres with another 60,000 acres of trails. We specialize in unguided riding with our herd of 100 specialty trained horses. We also offer guided riding and non riding holiday packages for guests who just want to enjoy the peace and quiet of the country.

Cool nights and long days that can range from rainy to hot. This is ideal time for people who prefer a quiet ranch and trails to themselves. The pastures and trails are lush and green and  the birds and wildlife are active.

Bluegrass Camp
Mountain Fever Bluegrass Camp

April 11 - 15, 2018

We are excited to once again host the Mountain Fever Bluegrass Camp!

Mountain Fever Bluegrass Camp is a four-day workshop/jam camp at The Flying U. This camp is for people with all levels of musical experience coming together to create acoustic bluegrass music! It's about learning through enabling musicians to play with other musicians! This will contribute to creating music together in a positive, encouraging setting at the Flying U. There will be many opportunities to learn, share, and create music together with long time friends and with brand new friends too.

Wrangler Week

April 20 - 27, 2018

How would you like to be a wrangler for a week? This year the Ranch will be open April 20, 2018 to April 27, 2018 for guests who would like to join us  in our annual Spring work party. Its all about fixing fences, opening trails, piling firewood,  cleaning up the tack room, and sprucing up the grounds. There's fellowship, great meals, nightly camp fires  and lots of chances to ride. Dogs welcome if they want to help. Cost is just $126.00 per day and that includes food, lodging and a horse assigned to you for the stay. In return all you do is help out. 

Opening Weekend

April 27, 2018

Join us on our opening weekend and be the first to hit the trails with your friends and your favourite horse. 

May Long Weekend

May 18 - 21, 2018

Our first long weekend of the year is full of fun activities for the whole family. Spend the day on the trails and come back and warm up in our Sauna. We have live entertainment Saturday night and then have an exciting evening of square dancing on Sunday! 


Summer 
June 21 to Sept 16 


The summers up in the Cariboo are sunny and warm which is ideal for both horseback riding and summer activities. This is our family period with children on school vacation. The lake is perfect for swimming and we also have tubing and boat rides every afternoon. This is ideal for guests who enjoy the hustle and bustle of a busy ranch with campfires, archery and quintessential summer holiday.

Canada Day Open House

June 29 - July 1, 2018

Enjoy Canada Day Weekend at Canada's oldest Guest Ranch. The summer riding weather is great and the lake is nice and warm. We have special live entertainment on Saturday and Sunday nights. This is always a family weekend so kids will enjoy our special activities of face painting, balloons and pony rides. And what better way to celebrate Canada's birthday then with a hay ride! Take advantage of our November booking month and stake out your cabin today.

Wild West Adventure Camp

Monday July 2 2018 to Friday July 6 2018

Have you heard about the FLYING U WILD WEST ADVENTURE CAMP designed for both parents and children!!!

DAY ACTIVITIES 

Parents ride on their own and are free to take advantage of all the Ranch activities.  Children are enrolled in a supervised summer camp that includes horse orientation, basic riding, advanced trail riding, desensitization and a gymkhana event.  Kids also get lessons in nature hikes, survival skills, canoeing and water-skiing. 

EVENINGS ACTIVITIES 

Fun for the family entertainment including talent shows, archery, camp fires and game activities .

We have a special 4 day rate that will give the family a great holiday.

Be sure to book early as space is limited and spots are filling up fast. 

BC Day long weekend

August 3 - 6, 2018

With some of the best weather of the season, join us for the BC Day Long weekend. Spend the morning on the trails and the afternoon on the lake tubing or water skiing. With only a couple cabins left for this weekend, make sure to call in and book your spot so you don't miss out on your BC Day vacay!
September Long Weekend

August 31 - September 3rd, 2018

It's the last weekend before school and work starts back up. This is usually a full weekend here at the Flying U so be sure to book your vacation early. 


Fall

Many guests choose the fall for the clear cool days of riding in the brilliant fall colours. The cabins are heated by wood stoves and are nice and warm in the evenings to curl up and read a book. Thanksgiving weekend is legendary at the ranch.

Thanksgiving Weekend

October 5 - 8, 2018

People love riding in the cool, crisp colours of fall at the Flying U.  Let us serve you your favourite Thanksgiving meal, turkey and ham. We will do the cooking and cleaning, all you have to do is bring the family.

Wrangler Clean Up Week

October 8 - 12, 2018

The Ranch will be open  October 8 , 2018 to October 12, 2018  for guests who would like to join us in our annual fall closing work party. It's a work/ riding week. Winter with Christmas and New Year 
 
Snow usually arrives at the ranch by the third week in November. This is a great time to come up and spend some time with winter activities. This can be a cold time of the year to experience minus 20 C. For the hardy try, our winterized log cabins or pamper yourself with a stay in one of our executive homes. 






CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEARS AT THE FLYING U 

This year at the ranch, we will be open for Christmas and New Years for the perfect family getaway!  We have several cabins that have been winterized along with the wood stoves to keep you nice and warm in the cold temperatures as well as our executive homes.  Enjoy a horse drawn sleigh ride with our Percheron team, Blackie and Katie, who will have special snowshoes for the season.  We will be offering guided rides during the day for our guests who are eager to enjoy the beautiful winter wonderland in the Cariboo.  Relax by the fire in the lodge or roast marshmallows in the fire pit outside. Bring the whole family for a relaxing Christmas vacation including traditional Christmas dinner. Don't worry kids, Santa never misses his stop at the U.
