OCTOBER 2019
Monthly News & Updates
Well, I know…we’re late again but I refuse to give up or skip an issue because of my stretched time commitments! Bonnie and I will keep plugging along so you get all the news from C.A.R.E. you need, deserve and expect on a monthly basis, as timely as possible.

In case you hadn’t heard…we’re in the fourth quarter, Thanksgiving is next month and Christmas and a New Year are just around the corner. You’re welcome…

Last year at Christmas we asked C.A.R.E. representatives to send in their favorite Christmas memories. Let’s try it again this year and see what you got in the Thanksgiving memory banks. Send your favorite Thanksgiving memory story (with pics if you have them) to [email protected] by November 8 th and we’ll share with everyone in next month’s QuickConnects. By submitting an article/photos, you give C.A.R.E. permission to publish it at their discretion.

C.A.R.E.’s Preferred Media Sponsor (Perspective Group) is hosting their 10 th Annual GNEX Conference in Las Vegas from February 18-21, 2020 at Bellagio. Watch (or check) your email for a great discount offer for C.A.R.E. Members. If you haven’t attended one of these conferences, trust me…next year would be the one to use as a trial run. For more information on this exciting event check out www.gnexconference.com .

Hope you’re having a great fall and have a spooky spectacular Halloween (if that’s your thing)!
Nominations Open for 4 th Annual CustomerCount ®
Customer Engagement Professional Resort Trades Award
Annual Award Contest Celebrates
Resort Managers, General Managers and Assistant Managers
Nominations for the 2019 CustomerCount ® Customer Engagement Professional (CEP) Resort Trades Award officially opened September 2, 2019.     The coveted award, in its fourth year, recognizes outstanding leaders who exemplify customer engagement within the timeshare resort/hospitality industry.

Nominations for CustomerCount ® Customer Engagement Professional Resort Trades Award will be open until December 31, 2019 and the winner will be announced in March of 2020.

CustomerCount and Resort Trades are looking for the most valuable customer engagement professional within the timeshare resort/hospitality industry. Qualified people most likely will be resort managers, assistant managers, front desk folks and customer service team members who are in daily contact with members and guests. These outstanding team members exemplify the highest standards in customer engagement and service. Their interaction with members and guests shapes the entire guest experience, paving the way and opening the doors to happy smiles and memorable vacations.

Last year, the award went to Noyan Suel as Operations Manager of Grand Pacific Resorts’ Carlsbad Seapointe Resort. He has since been promoted to General Manager of Olympic Valley Resort. The year prior, Jeff Brock, now Regional Director of Operations, received the CEP Award from a highly competitive field of nominees.

The nomination process includes completing an online nomination survey to measure the nominee’s qualifications and qualities. The survey is powered by CustomerCount’s software.

“The flexibility of our online feedback system can be utilized in numerous ways--including an efficient method in determining a winner for this award,” said Robert Kobek, president of CustomerCount. “We will combine the data entered numerically in specific categories of customer and/or member engagement including on-site rating improvements and social media mentions and reviews.

“Along with the quantitative data, narrative descriptions with anecdotes and stories to support the nomination will also be taken into strong consideration,” added Bob.
According to Sharon Wilson, publisher of Resort Trades , “We’re again proud to team up with CustomerCount to celebrate the timeshare hospitality industry’s often overlooked and under-appreciated resort management professionals. These are the folks at the heart of our industry and we are thrilled to share their accomplishments as living examples of Best Practices.”
The winning customer engagement professional and their company/resort will be profiled in the March issue of Resort Trades . Two trophies will be presented; one for the company and one for the individual CEP.

To submit a nomination, visit CustomerCount or Resort Trades for a link to the entry form. Or fill out the online form .

BY: Linda Mayhugh, C.A.R.E. President
This past September, I had the pleasure of attending the 2019 VoCon event hosted by the Canadian Vacation Ownership Association (CVOA) in beautiful Whistler, B.C., Canada. More effectively I had the privilege of representing C.A.R.E. as your President. I conducted several great meetings; gained one new member on-site and have a few really good leads to follow up on that I think could transition to new members soon too! And if you know me, you know I don’t miss an opportunity to spend time with our fellow C.A.R.E. members as well and together I think, no…I know, we represented the association well.

Be sure to read the press release included in this issue regarding the presentation of the 2019 CVOA Cornerstone Award to our newest C.A.R.E. Advisory Board Member Greg Crist, CEO of the Association of Vacation Owners. Congrats to my friend on winning a coveted award for being a pillar of awesomeness in our industry. We are proud to have you on our board supporting C.A.R.E.
It’s always important to meet with each of our industry association partners at these events too in order to maintain our strong global alliance.
I want to personally thank each association leader for their friendship and support of C.A.R.E. I was honored to be on a panel discussion with this same group of leaders and we were given the chance to discuss “What Keeps Us Up At Night” in our industry. Primarily, and no surprise, all panelists are still very concerned about our secondary market and have vowed to continue the work we are doing to repair from the past and protect the future of our industry. We also committed to work more closely on important initiatives. Other association concerns are global travel advisories, maintaining viability and relevance of our individual associations and doing everything we can to be a part of something good.

Other informative and educational panels presented at VoCon were Sustainable, Responsible Tourism and Greening Hospitality; The Digital Age is Everything, Leading the Pack (market leaders from around the globe) and more on our ever concerning Secondary Market.

At these industry events…I meet new people, visit with old friends and represent C.A.R.E. as proudly as I can in order to globally grow our association. I made a new friend earlier this year at 2019 GNEX in the Bahamas. Her name is Ingrid Jarrett. She’s the new President/CEO of the CVOA and I’d like to say kudos on a job well done. I think your first conference was a great success my friend and I can’t wait to work more closely with you in the next few years to bring more good (like you) to our industry.
