Burlingame Offers Special Needs Registry

If someone in your home has special needs, you can let the Burlingame Police Department know so that emergency personnel can respond appropriately. Police officers will receive an automatic message about this person's special needs if they are called to your address.

Click on this link   on the City of Burlingame's website to register someone's special needs. Family members and care providers are encouraged to enroll Burlingame residents of any age with any medical, mental health condition or disability including, but not limited to dementia, autism, epilepsy or ambulatory restrictions.

You can attach documents (in PDF format) and photos. There's also an opportunity at the end of the form to provide additional details, including the location of a hidden key in order to minimize the need for emergency personnel to force entry into your residence.

Burlingame residents with questions about the registry can contact the Burlingame Police Department at (650) 777-4100 during business hours.

Calling all HAMS!

The Burlingame Neighborhood Network (BNN) is inviting Ham radio operators who are interested in completing Burlingame's Emergency Communication Plan to attend a meeting on Monday, January 14, at 7:00 PM in the upstairs Conference Room at the main Burlingame Public Library. The plan envisions having seamless Ham radio communication throughout Burlingame, including the Burlingame Hills. The benefit is that, following a disaster, Hams will be able to communicate with one another and with neighborhood leaders throughout the city, and with Hams at the Emergency Operations Center.

BNN would welcome your expertise and thoughts at this meeting, at which we'll identify areas where communication is poor, determine steps that need to be taken to improve communication (such as testing coverage and installing antennas) and decide how to complete the plan.

Calling all HAMS!
Monday, January 14 - 7:00 PM
Burlingame Main Public Library
480 Primrose Rd. - Upstairs Conference Room

-Cost: Free.
-Register: RSVP to Terry Nagel [email protected]

News You Can Use

Text 911 for Help

If you live in San Mateo County, you can now TEXT emergency requests and notifications to local law enforcement and fire response agencies using cellular text messaging.

When using the system:
  • Provide exact location of emergency;
  • Be concise in telling dispatcher what emergency is;
  • Do not use abbreviations, emojis or slang
This is one additional tool the SMC Sheriff's Office and Central County Fire are using to better serve and protect Millbrae.
