Housing Authority of San Bernardino County and Mountain Homeless Coalition Receives $1.1 Million From the California Department of Housing and Community Development Homekey Program
|
|
CC congratulates Housing Authority of San Bernardino (a CC client) and Mountain Homeless Coalition for receiving the California Department of Housing and Community Development Homekey Program in the amount of $1.1 Million.
These monies will go to acquire 8 short-term vacation rentals that will become permanent homes for families and individuals experiencing homelessness, with priority given to elderly individuals with disabilities who are at risk of health complications from COVID-19.
This latest achievement is another example of the commitment of HACSB'S leadership to promote the quality of life for its residents.
It’s also a reflection of the dedication and hard work by CC Project Manager, Adel Hsu, who ensured a successful grant application.

California Department of Education: Education for Homeless Children and Youth
Deadline: February 4, 2021
Amount: Up to $250,000
Match: No
Eligibility: Local educational agencies
The purpose of this program is to (1) facilitate the enrollment, attendance, and success in school of homeless children and youth; and (2) ensure homeless children and youth have equal access to the same free, appropriate, public education as provided to all other students. Services provided cannot replace the regular academic program and must be designed to expand or improve services that are part of the school's regular academic program.

The Municipal Management Association of Southern California (MMASC), California Consulting, and Kosmont Companies hosted a very successful webinar at MMASC annual conference. The webinar was packed with more than 85 participants.
Ramsey and Samuelian gave a comprehensive overview of grant writing best practices and took questions from the participants.

Karen Simpson

California Consulting is pleased to spotlight Project Manager Karen Simpson in our November newsletter.
Karen Simpson is Californian Consulting's Project Manager located in Southern California. She has served within municipal government for 27 years for the Cities of Los Angeles, and Pomona, California. Karen has garnered her grant-writing skills for Federal and State funding opportunities from multiple Community and Economic Development programs.
She has extensive knowledge and training in grant program management, grant research, grant writing, and post-award program compliance. She is skilled in building collaborates between community based organizations, faith-based entities, educational, and social institutions, which resulted in Federal grant awards totaling $10.4 million in less than 7 years. She has written grants addressing: at-risk children and youth, K-12 education, job training, homeless assistance, economic development, housing improvement, and lead-hazard control.
Karen is an Independent Grant Consultant for non-profit organizations providing grant writing services, capacity building and funding strategies to help meet needs in underserved neighborhoods.
