CalSchool News, ACSA Regions 6,11, and 18, and California Consulting Hosted a Highly Successful
K-12 Webinar

California Consulting, CalSchool News, and ACSA Regions 6, 11, and 18 hosted an incredible grant writing Best Practices Webinar specifically designed for education.
On Tuesday, September 27, 2022, Cal. School News and California Consulting, Inc. teamed up to Host a "Grant Writing Webinar for K-12." The webinar was a major success with more than 50 school district administrators attending from across the State. ACSA regional chapters 6, 11, and 18 served as Co-Hosts for the webinar.
The grant writing "best practices" presentation was conducted by California Consulting, Inc. CEO Steve Samuelian and K-12 Senior Grant Writer Dr. Julie High. The PowerPoint presentation was followed by questions from the participants.

· Local Agency Technical Assistance (LATA): The CPUC established the Local Agency Technical Assistance (LATA) grant program for eligible pre-construction work facilitating broadband network projects to areas in need. The program has a $50 million budget for eligible local agencies and tribal entities in California. Technical assistance grants support tribes and local agencies in their efforts to expand broadband to communities lacking sufficient Internet. Grant recipients are reimbursed for eligible pre-construction expenses to provide last-mile connections to unserved and underserved communities. · CalRecycle: Community Composting for Green Spaces Program: The Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) administers this program to increase the number of community groups operating small-scale composting programs supporting green spaces within Priority Population communities. This effort will also increase local composting capacity while expanding community knowledge about the benefits of compost use and proper composting techniques. Eligible grant projects include regional plans for outreach for the grant project and collaboration with community groups on the creation, improvement, or expansion of community composting sites throughout the Region to increase composting of organics and reduce generation of methane from organic waste decomposing in landfills with a focus on providing benefits to Priority Populations. $4,240,000 available for fiscal year (FY) 2021-22. Team Member Spotlight:
Senior Project Manager Dr. Julie High
| |
Dr. Julie High is a Senior Project Manager for California Consulting. Julie has over twenty-five years experience in grant writing for education. She has secured more than $35 million in educational grant funding, with over $25 million for one school district.
Julie has experience working in many roles in public education: high school teacher, staff development specialist, middle school instructional coach, preschool director, after school program director, elementary principal, and director of program evaluation and IT. Throughout all of these primary roles, Julie focused on improving education for traditionally underserved populations with successful Federal and State grant funding. In 1994 Julie organized a community collaborative of private businesses and social service agencies to improve services to the outlying community. This collaborative continues to meet and promote community health through its current family resource center base.
Julie earned her Bachelor’s degree from UCLA, Master’s degree from San Jose State University, Professional Administrative Credential from the University of Santa Clara, and her Doctorate in Education from Fielding Graduate University.
When she’s not writing grants, Julie can be found riding and competing in upper-level dressage with her Lusitano gelding, Cefiro do Ceu.
