Business Community Gathers as KDCC Hosts 2026 AGM


The Kenora & District Chamber of Commerce held its Annual General Meeting on March 10, 2026, bringing together members to reflect on the past year and set the course for the future of the organization.


The evening opened with welcoming remarks from interim KDCC President Tim Gosnell, followed by the presentation of the 2025 financial report delivered by Matt Smith of Gamboa & Holland LLP and Treasurer Shawn Roulette.


Members also participated in the election of officers and directors for the upcoming term.



The next Municipal Election takes place in 2026.

Funding Opportunities

Funding is available to for-profit businesses operating within Ontario, that:

 

  • have at least three years of operations/financial statements (refer to Operating Experience to determine financial statement requirements )
  • employ at least 5 people
  • demonstrate any of the following impacts due to the imposition of U.S. tariffs:
  • operates in a sector extensively targeted by U.S. tariffs (for example, steel sector, auto sector, aluminum)
  • significant exposure to trade risk (for example, revenue loss of 30% or higher), or pivoting operations to supply a customer that is looking to replace a current supplier due to tariffs

💡 Ontario Innovation Centre – Business Modernization Grants (2025)

Available to Ontario-based SMEs | Apply through AccessOCI | Managed by OCI


1. Digital Modernization and Adoption Plan (DMAP)

For: SMEs looking to develop a custom digital adoption roadmap

  • Funding: Up to $15,000 (50% of costs)
  • Use: Hire a Digital Adoption Consultant (DAC) from OCI’s roster to assess needs and build a digital strategy
  • Eligibility:
  • Ontario-based, for-profit business (1–499 FTEs)
  • Not a franchise, real estate firm, not-for-profit, or e-commerce only
  • Benefits: Understand tech needs, prepare for transformation, access expert advice
  • Required: Completed digital plan submitted for reimbursement
  • Application: Must be initiated by an OCI Business Development Manager (BDM) or Digital Adoption Advisor (DAA)
  • Submit Intake Form


2. Technology Demonstration Program (TDP)

For: SMEs implementing tech identified in their DMAP

  • Funding: Up to $100,000 (50% of costs, min. $200,000 project)
  • Use: Implement commercialized Ontario digital tech in partnership with a tech vendor
  • Eligibility:
  • Ontario-based for-profit SMEs (1–499 FTEs, $500K+ annual revenue)
  • Must have completed a DMAP
  • Benefits: Accelerate implementation, improve operations, and showcase innovation
  • Application: Must be initiated by OCI BDM/DAA and include a vendor letter of support
  • Note: Preference for Ontario vendors; arm’s-length relationships only
