Downtown Council Discuss Higher Education | |
|
Higher education was the focus of August 9th's Downtown Council Board Meeting. Lisa Quinn, NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale, and Dr. Joseph Choma, FAU School of Architecture, gave presentations on their organization's efforts to push higher learning on the upcoming youth. "We want to make this space a home for everyone," Quinn replied when asked about her vision for the organization.
Our second speaker, Dr. Choma, covered the impressive Google partnership with FAU's Architecture program. FAU is also the only school that requires undergraduates to learn about AI. He spoke deeper about the student's experience on the project and working with Google as a client.
The meeting ended with a word from Yandy Gilson, Partnership Manager for Broward College. She announced that Broward College has also joined the movement to push higher education on youth. Broward College was awarded with a $30 million grant to make an impact in the community and helping kids to get ahead in preparation for college.
