Congratulations to Glen Benjamin from Lan Infotech, who received multiple nominations at the Golden Palm Awards, held on August 3 at the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach. The amazing black-tie event was hosted by South Florida Tech Hub, and they were gracious enough to extend an invite to The Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce. Chamber Held Branding & Marketing Focus Group

Improving Chamber members’ experience is the goal of a focus group held by the Branding & Marketing Council on Thursday, July 20. Select chamber members met to discuss the structure, logistics, and how we could improve the day-to-day operations. Thank you, Anthony Santana & Michael Goldstein, for leading a constructive and very productive meeting!

On Thursday, August 3, the Chamber presented a Signature Event, The Small Business Innovation Conference. Building a personal brand, getting loan ready, creating a business plan, and cybersecurity were all topics of discussion at the Small Business Innovation Conference. Attendees were able to get answers to their business questions directly from the source, too.

The conference opened up with encouraging words from Chamber Chairman, Jack Seiler, & Fort Lauderdale City Manager, Greg Chavarria. "You got to take risks in order to prove yourself. You need to prove yourself in order to serve a purpose. You need to serve a purpose in order to feel fulfilled. You need to feel fulfilled in order to be happy. If you're not happy, then what's the purpose," Chavarria said.

This month's Social Impact Council Breakfast on Wednesday, August 2, was a full house! Panelists Angelica Satibanez, Amazon Public Policy, and Lanie Morgenstern, Spirit Airlines, shared their skills, strategies, and tools for success at the first installment of the Guide For Giving Series: Securing Sponsorships for Social Good.

Attendees were also entered in a raffle in which they received prizes such as round trip with tickets on Spirit Airlines! With impact in our community at the forefront of our minds, we'd like to thank our Social Impact Council and our Moderator, Dawn Diehl, Winterfest, inc., for facilitating an event where all attendees walked away informed and empowered regarding what corporations look for in a sponsor partner.

Living Water Christian Academy held their ribbon cutting ceremony on Sunday, August 6, with a dedicated day of activities. Children ranging from kindergarten to 5th grade attended their grand opening. They enjoyed activities with a bounce house, fun games, official backpacks, food, and music. Thank you to everyone who attended this joyful celebration.

Cities of Boca Raton, City of Deerfield Beach, and the Town of Hillsboro Beach banned together on a large-scale initiative, with cost-savings utilizing the Boca Raton Inlet ebb shoal as their sand source. The power of collaboration benefits all residents and visitors. Let’s celebrate this incredible achievement to our beautiful Florida shorelines!

Nominees for the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce Excellence in Healthcare Awards are those individuals, programs and entities who provide care, services and innovative programs above and beyond all expectations. These nominees are shining examples of the best and the brightest in our healthcare community. Awards will be presented on Thursday, November 9, 2023, at Perspectives on Florida's Healthcare program presented by Broward Health at the Signature Grand. All awardees will be notified by Chamber staff or a member of the Healthcare Council.
