Member of the Month February 2024: Elizabeth Van Zandt

For many years Elizabeth Van Zandt has consistently served on the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce Downtown Council Board, however most notably we are acknowledging her accomplishments as the 2023 Chair. Elizabeth set a goal last year to grow the Council by inviting more people to join it and raise awareness of important issues among a wider audience. She did this by holding the monthly meetings offsite at different business locations providing them with spotlights and tours. She also coordinated guest speakers to present on various topics. Elizabeth shared, “Many people expressed to me how valuable the meetings were and gave them a better understanding of what is happening in the community and how they can get involved. All of which resulted in greater advocacy for both the Chamber and downtown Fort Lauderdale.”

Elizabeth has almost 20 years of planning, transportation and mobility, economic development, and public art experience in the South Florida region....Click Here for Full Story!

Inaugural State of the Workforce

In partnership with the Greater Chambers of Commerce of Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, Pompano Beach, and Tamarac, hosted the inaugural State of the Workforce Breakfast and Job Fair at the Broward County Convention Center. Over 300 local business leaders heard from Adrienne Johnston, the President of CareerSource Florida and Rob Petrosino of PeakActivity, forecasting future workforce trends from data to Artificial Intelligence. The event included a marketplace of experts to advise employers on issues of importance to them and a job fair.

The job fair was the biggest in our 51-year history, drawing over 1200 job seekers, which some of you may have seen showcased on CBS News. This could not have happened without the help of Broward County Transit, which provided free transportation all day long from the distressed zip codes to and from the event and Visit Lauderdale, which provided complimentary parking.

We have attached a video link highlighting the event for your viewing pleasure: https://careersourcebroward.com/2024-SOTW-Video.
