January 2023 Member of the Month:
Donelle Zunker
| |
|
Donelle Zunker is the definition of a beacon of hospitality. She is a born leader whose focus is to serve and help people. As a Chair of the Beach Council, she worked tirelessly with her fellow board members, city officials, business owners and residents to make Fort Lauderdale Beach one of the most premier destinations in the world. Donelle made a one-year commitment to the Beach Council in 2021 but ended up staying another year so she could finish the work that she started; all while running a very busy 650 room full-service hotel. She also worked closely with the Fort Lauderdale Police Department to help with the homeless situation on the beach trying to balance their needs and as well as visitors. When COVID hit and was wreaking havoc in the tourism industry, Donelle continued to push her agenda to keep the beach clean, protect the sea turtles and continue to lead meetings. In addition, this year she committed to helping house families that had infants evacuated from Lee County hospitals to Broward County after Hurricane Ian hit Florida's west coast. All of this doesn't even scratch the surface of what Donelle has done in our community.

Broward Health Celebrates 85 Years of Service | |
"Then, Now, and Forever" was the tag line for Broward Health’s 85th anniversary celebration that took place on Wednesday January 4, 2023. Many proclamations were presented among a large crowd of community, medical staff from across Broward Health System. In addition, their first baby born in the hospital in 1938 spoke with passion and a touch of humor. In attendance were Heather Havericak, CEO, Broward Health Medical Center, and Shane Strum, CEO of Broward Health System, Broward County Mayor Lamar Fisher, City Commissioner Michael Udine, Mayor Dean Trantalis, and Fort Lauderdale City Commissioner Dr. Warren Sturman. | |

All guests will be treated to light bites and sips, while building connections with our high-level investors and directors from our Chamber Board. The game on Thursday begins at 7pm and the tournament is currently in its Quarter Finals so that will be a treat. All attendees of the reception interested in seeing the tournament will receive a ticket where you will sit in a “preferred seating area” as a group.
