City Manager Search Committee Appointed

Two Chamber leaders were appointed to the City Manager Search Committee by Fort Lauderdale City Commissioners recently.

Burnadette Norris-Weeks, chair of the Board, Austin Pamies Norris-Weeks Powell, PLCC, and Dan Lindblade, CAE, president and CEO of the Chamber, will work with five other representatives to make recommendations to the commission. Norris-Weeks was appointed to represent the business community and Lindblade was appointed by Commissioner John Herbst.

“Our appointments show the importance the city places on the business community,” said Norris-Weeks. “It is an honor to be chosen for this critical process.”

Other appointees were: Melinda Bowker, Mayor Trantalis, Ronald Perkins, Vice Mayor Glassman, Commissioner Sturman, Commissioner Beasley Pittman, Roosevelt Walters, Earl Priziee, Mary Peloquin, and a consensus from the Fort Lauderdale Civic Association.

International Swimming Hall of Fame Join the Chamber

There is a great deal of history behind the International Swimming Hall of Fame (ISHOF) dating back to the Casino Pool of the 1920s. Friday, July 5^th was another historic moment on that peninsula at the official signing of various lease agreements among all the parties to move forward with the development of iconic buildings sandwiched between the ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway. These will bookend the already iconic new pools and high-dive tower. The group is proudly led by District 2 of the City of Fort Lauderdale Vice Mayor Steve Glassman joined by ISHOF’s Executive Committee members and Board of Directors led by Chairman of the Board, Dr. William Kent.

Holy Cross Health Earns “LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equality High Performer” Designation in Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Healthcare Equality Index

Fort Lauderdale, Florida (May 7, 2024) – Today, Holy Cross Health announced their “LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equality High Performer” designation from the Human Rights Campaign Foundation (HRC). The designation was awarded in the 16th iteration of HRC’s Healthcare Equality Index (HEI), released today. A record 1,065 healthcare facilities actively participated in the HEI 2024 survey and scoring process. Of those participants, 462 received the “LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equality High Performer” designation.
