Chargers Soccer Club Celebrates Successful
Labor Day Tournament, Looks Ahead to Halloween Havoc & Gobbler Cup
Chargers Soccer Club is thrilled to announce the resounding success of its 2025 Labor Day Tournament, held August 30 through September 1 at Premier Sports Campus (PSC) in Lakewood Ranch. The event drew teams across age groups from U8 through U19, offered high- level competition on premier grass and turf fields, and reinforced Chargers SC’s reputation for hosting top-tier youth soccer events.
Looking Ahead: Halloween Havoc & Gobbler Cup
Building on the momentum from Labor Day, Chargers SC is excited to host two upcoming
tournaments this fall and winter:
Florida Halloween Havoc
• Dates: October 25–26, 2025
The Gobbler Cup
• Dates: November 29–30, 2025 (Thanksgiving weekend)

Chargers Soccer Club Celebrates Strong Start to Season Across MLS NEXT, Academy, and Pre-MLS Programs
Chargers Soccer Club is proud to announce a successful start to the 2025–26 season across all competitive levels. The club’s MLS NEXT Homegrown and Academy Division teams have opened the season with strong performances, showcasing the depth of talent and commitment across the program.
In addition, Chargers SC officially launched its Pre-MLS program this fall on all three campuses Clearwater, Tampa, and Lakewood Ranch. Providing a structured and competitive pathway for the region’s most promising young players to progress toward MLS NEXT competition.
“Our goal has always been to create a unified development pathway from grassroots to elite levels,” said Mike Keeney, Executive Director and MLS NEXT Director. “The energy and professionalism shown by our players, coaches, and families at every campus have set the tone for another exciting year of growth and achievement.”
Chargers SC remains committed to providing top tier player development opportunities and a clear pathway to professional and collegiate levels through its integrated MLS NEXT and PreMLS platforms.

Lakewood Ranch
- Our Rec season is in full motion.

More than 30 teams have been practicing since the end of August, and we have completed our 3rd game day already.
- We are very proud to have a new sponsor of our Rec game shirts. AKSALA is our new partner for the 2025/2026 season. If you come to the Premier Sports Campus, you will always see their flag banner on Field 9. During game days, you will see their logo in every player's shirt and on the coaches' shirts. Additionally, you will see a banner of AKSALA hanging on the front fence of the PSC Stadium.

- Competitive Teams:
- The 2017B Pre EA are currently undefeated in their USA League Division. We are hoping that they continue going strong throughout the season.
- The 2017G Academy Yellow team, our new Girls' team, is having a very solid run in the WFPL. They are currently third in the standings of their Division.
- Premier Sports Campus
- New lights have been installed at the Campus. We are now able to utilize Fields 1 and 2 for the MLS Next teams and Field 9 for Rec practices later in the evening.
- As part of the general efforts to market our Chargers brand, the Club has purchased a banner that will hang for one year on the front fence of the PSC Stadium.

Publication Schedule:
Newsletters are distributed quarterly in November, February, and May via email. Each edition features club updates, event highlights, and sponsor spotlights.
Your business advertisement will appear in each issue (similar in layout to this email). Sponsors may include a logo/image and a short message or promotion of their choice.

Takuya Yamada
Chargers Soccer Club extends its congratulations to Takuya Yamada, a former member of our coaching staff, on his induction into the Tampa Bay Rowdies’ 75/10 Club — an honor reserved for players who have made at least 75 appearances or dedicated 10 years of service to the Rowdies organization.
Yamada, who joined the Rowdies in 2010, quickly became a leader both on and off the field. As team captain, he played a pivotal role in guiding the club to the 2012 NASL Championship. His professionalism, consistency, and commitment earned him the respect of teammates, opponents, and fans alike.
During his time with Chargers SC, Coach Yamada brought the same passion and expertise to developing our players, leaving a lasting impact on the club. His legacy as both a Rowdies legend and a youth developer continues to inspire those who had the privilege of learning from him.
“Takuya was not only a tremendous professional during his Rowdies career, but also a valued mentor during his time coaching with us,” said Mike Keeney, Executive Director of Chargers SC. “We are proud to see him honored with this recognition, and grateful for the positive influence he had on our players and families.”

Kennedy Rist on fire at NSU game
Kennedy Rist was on fire in goal as her Northwestern State University Demons knocked off #19 Texas Longhorns in a thrilling 3–2 victory! Kennedy tallied 13 huge saves to lead her team to the upset win.
