SUNDAYS BY THE BAY

July is here! You know what that means. It means Sundays By The Bay.

Sundays By The Bay began in the mid 1980s. It was a time when the congregation would, to avoid the summer heat, abandon fancy church clothes for comfortable clothes.

Over the years Sundays By The Bay has evolved. July became a time for a special sermon series. Or people in the congregation sharing their faith stories. Or visiting speakers.

This year we will have speakers sharing with us the mission of the different organizations to which they belong.

On Sunday, July 26, Steve Smith from Zoe Empowers will be with us. Zoe Empowers empowers orphaned children and vulnerable children in Africa and Asia overcome severe poverty. This Sunday is bluegrass Sunday, so bring your country twang for singing. Following worship there will be a luncheon.

The not-so-good news is, life is filled with different kinds of challenges. The Good News is, God cares about those facing challenges. The good news is, there are all kinds of persons and organizations helping the vulnerable meet those challenges. We are fortunate to have some of those persons with us during Sundays By The Bay.

The Holocaust Museum in Houston

Charged with educating the public about the dangers of prejudice and hatred in society, Holocaust Museum Houston opened its doors in March of 1996. Since that time, impassioned notes, poems, artwork, and other gifts, from school children and adults alike, attest to the life-changing thoughts generated by just one visit to this unique facility.

Lunch will be at Treebeards which is inside Christ Church Cathedral on Texas Street downtown.

Bus leaves the church parking lot at 8:45am.

Museum price is $16.00

Seating is limited, so let Kris Brummerhop (281-684-5950) know if you want to sign up.

Adult Bible Study with Bill

The scripture reading for this Sunday the comes from Acts 12:1-23. In this lesson we will examine how To take comfort in knowing that God’s presence is with us during uncertain times.

This class is based on the Cokesbury Adult Bible Studies series, copies of which are provided without cost. I share my own insights and often cover different material than what's in the book. However, you may gain further insights into the lesson if you have the book. I welcome open discussion in our classes.

Southeast District Prayer Focus for July 20-26, 2026

Baytown - Mont Belvieu, Love United Methodist Church

Thank you so much for lifting up LOVE United Methodist Church in prayer! We welcome any and all kinds of prayers! Just in case you’d like something specific:

We are offering prayers of thanksgiving for Music and Arts Camp 2026! The children of our community had a great time making new friends, learning music, creating art, and practicing languages together! We praise God for the youth and adult volunteers who made camp possible and for our youngest disciples who led worship on Sunday, teaching us how to be Secret Agents for the Kingdom of God!

Love United Methodist Church is a new, musical community who celebrate the spark of God that shines in all people. Come visit us at 712 Schilling Avenue, Baytown, TX 77520 for a life-changing encounter with God’s unconditional love. If you are looking for a church where Christ's joy is victorious, the Bible is read spiritually, prayerfully and thoughtfully, the Holy Spirit moves in miraculous ways, and all are loved with respect, justice, and dignity, then we are the church for you!
