May 2026

The City of Naples is taking proactive measures through the Naples Beach Restoration & Water Quality Improvement (Stormwater Beach Outfall) Project to ensure our drainage and stormwater infrastructure remains strong for years to come. Most of the finished work will never be seen, and we mean that in the best possible way. Effective infrastructure works in the background so life on the surface can continue uninterrupted.

The Stormwater Beach Outfall Project will modernize aging systems that have struggled to keep pace with the demands placed on our coastline, delivering long-term benefits for residents and the environment, including enhanced water quality, improved flood protection, and safeguards for wildlife.

We are pleased to report that the project continues to track ahead of schedule, and we appreciate your patience as work progresses.

Beach Outfall Project Updates

Watermain Work: On Track Between 4th Ave N and 2nd Ave S

The watermain tie-in between 4th Ave N and 1st Ave N is well underway. It is expected to be in service by July 2026, along with supplemental drainage work. To keep momentum going, the project team is proactively advancing watermain work south of 1st Ave N ahead of the original timeline.

The final phase, encompassing roadway, drainage, and watermain work from 1st Ave N to 2nd Ave S, is scheduled to begin in August 2026 and wrap up by year's end.

Pump Stations and Directional Drilling: Major Milestones Reached

Two outfall pipes have been successfully installed via horizontal directional drilling at the 8th Ave N and 3rd Ave N pump stations. They are currently undergoing standard testing.

Additionally, the 3rd Ave N pump station is expected to be operational by August 2026, three months ahead of schedule. The 8th Ave N pump station is on track to be finished by September 2026.

Alligator Lake Pocket Park: Restoration Underway

Structural work at Alligator Lake, including the generator platform and gravity wall, was completed in March 2026. Crews are now focused on restoring the pocket park, with landscaping, irrigation, pavers, and facade work all actively in progress.

Gulf Shore Boulevard North at 3rd Ave N: What You're Seeing

The large excavation taking place in the intersection is the construction site for critical pump station infrastructure. Crews are currently pouring concrete as part of the "cast-in-place" process, which is expected to be finished in the coming weeks.

Looking Ahead

Overall, several project areas are significantly ahead of schedule, including 3rd St N and the North Basin G Structures - both now fully complete. It's estimated the Beach Outfall Project will conclude by May 2027, with efforts continuing to be made to complete work sooner.
