CAAHEP Recognizes Board Members Doug York and David Becker
CAAHEP held its annual meeting in January, at which time, two CoAEMSP Board Members were recognized for their service and dedication to accreditation.

Doug York, NRP, PS received the William W. Goding Award for Exceptional Service, the highest honor awarded by CAAHEP. This award is reserved for those who are or have been Commissioners, and recognizes their service in word and deed, i.e., has spoken with conviction about the work of the Commission, advanced its purposes, and actively participated in the Commission’s activities at a high level for a sustained period of time. The recipient is someone who is respected by other Commissioners but is not currently a Board member.

This year’s recipient was our very own Doug York! Congratulations, Doug!
David Becker, MA, EMTP, EFO received the CoA Superhero Award. David Becker is a steadfast supporter and advocate of CAAHEP accreditation and the CoAEMSP. He is one of CoAEMSP's unsung heroes who gives everything to support accreditation excellence through the CAAHEP process. David is the planning chair of ACCREDITCON, leading the national EMS accreditation conference that promotes collaboration for advancing excellence through accreditation. He is site visitor and team captain, averaging more than 1 site visit (now virtual) per month. He serves a double role of Treasurer/Secretary on the CoAEMSP Board. Congratulations, David!

New Requirements Now Effective Regarding Satellites and Alternate Locations
Staff contact: Lynn Caruthers, lynn@coaemsp.org

CAAHEP accredited programs may develop non-main campus locations to deliver components of the course or, at times, the entire program to meet students' and stakeholders' needs. The distinctions and delivery modes can be confusing but are essential in program operation and assessment. CAAHEP has revised the definition of a satellite which must offer all the professional didactic and laboratory content of the program. This may include any distance education delivery modality. The CoAEMSP has defined an alternate location for those sites where a portion of the education is delivered, but not the entire didactic and lab components.

Congratulations!
Charles Morton, BS, EMTP, Peer Evaluator since 2015, will be stepping down from this volunteer position. Dedicated EMS educators who serve in volunteer positions make accreditation possible. Accreditation begins with outside teams of peers evaluating a program based on the CAAHEP accreditation Standards. We wish to thank Charles Morton for his service for the past six years. THANK YOU!
