Energy company donation supports local wine industry
Thanks to a generous donation from energy company Kinder Morgan Inc., the County will be able to install new directional road signs to help tourists find wine tasting rooms. The $5,000 funding will pay for signs in the Willcox region. Representatives from the County, Kinder Morgan, City of Willcox, and the wineries, gathered to accept the donation and to discuss future placement of the signs. Read more.
Vineyards form new economic development partnership
Members of the Willcox Wine Country Partnership have formed a new corporation to help promote and grow the vineyard industry. The non-profit will work primarily on events and marketing, as well as continuing to partner with the County to boost local economic development, cited as a priority in the Board of Supervisors' strategic plan . Economic injury disaster loans available to regional businesses
Small, non-farm businesses in Cochise County are now eligible to apply for low-interest federal disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration. These loans offset economic losses because of reduced revenues caused by drought. Read More.
Head to Bisbee this weekend for a vintage experience
The 10th Annual Copper City Classic vintage baseball tournament will be held at Warren Ball Park, Bisbee, this weekend. Played by rules adopted when Abraham Lincoln was President, each team will play in period uniforms. For more information click here.
National Healthcare Decisions Day Luncheon
The Southeastern Arizona Governments Organization is hosting a luncheon on how to plan for future healthcare needs. Learn how to start the conversation about making healthcare decisions, should you or a loved one be unable to do so. This event, which includes lunch, takes place on April 16, in Sierra Vista. County services get the public connected
It's National County Government Month and this year's theme is "Connecting the Unconnected". There are many ways we provide services to our communities to help them stay connected, none more so than our local libraries, which are often at the heart of the rural regions. Throughout the month we'll be highlighting our Library District and the vital work it does to help our residents.
Libraries to launch
One County, One Card
Readers in Cochise County will soon be able to use their existing library cards at any public library location countywide, thanks to the launch of One County, One Card. This is a joint project of the Cochise County Library District and the seven municipal libraries, and will allow the public even greater access to books and other materials. Read More.
New opioids treatment facility open house
Community Medical Services, a member of the Cochise Addiction Recovery Partnership , has opened a new substance abuse treatment facility in Sierra Vista. The public is invited to an open house on Thursday, April 4, from 11:30am to 1:30pm. The center is located at 302 El Camino Real, Building 10-C.
Public invited to Take Back The Night event
Take Back The Night is an international event with the goal of ending sexual, relationship, and domestic violence in all forms. Cochise College's event is one of hundreds being held in over 30 countries. It will include a local resource fair, free food, a candlelight vigil, survivor testimonies, musical performances, and more. Learn More.
