A Message From Your
AMTA-KY Chapter President
Caren McCarty

Hello -

Happy Thanksgiving Weekend! I hope this newsletter finds you healthy and filled with happiness.

I am pleased to announce that on March 12, 2022, AMTA-KY will be hosting our first face to face Education and Business meeting since March 2020, at the Embassy Suites, Lexington, KY. It is so hard to believe that It will be two years since we have seen each other as a group. Nathan Nordstrom will be our instructor for our Ethics Class for 3 CE's. The price of Ethics class will include lunch. We hope you will plan to join us! (See more information below.)

For all AMTA-KY members, please mark your calendars for our Social Event that is also planned for March 12, 2022, held after the Spring Education Conference and Business Meeting at the Embassy Suites. It has been so long since we have all gotten together that the AMTA-KY board would like to give all members the opportunity to catch up. You don't have to attend the Education and Luncheon to be a part of our social event. We do ask that you pre-register so we can have a count for who will be attending. We will be serving light appetizers so you can mix and mingle and fill your bellies at the same time. Keep an eye on your email. We will be sending out the invitations to register some time in January 2022.

I have so much to be thankful for during this season of gratitude and I am so excited to get the chance to see everyone in 2022. It has been too way long. I hope you all are looking forward to these events as much as we are. Please share our news with your fellow LMT's.

Best Regards,
Caren
Caren G. McCarty
AMTA-KY President

Government Relations
Report Update 11/2021
Ann Boone,
Government Relations Chair

The Kentucky Board of Licensure for Massage Therapy has proposed new and amended rules that primarily affect the following areas: fees, exams, applications, license reinstatement, complaint processes, ethics, scope of practice and continuing education. The rules were drafted based on House Bill 79 that passed the Kentucky legislature this session on 3/18/2021.

There have been many steps to get to this point and MANY more to move forward. This process needs input from Kentucky LMTs. AMTA-KY has written a comment letter to submit to the Board.

Please view the proposed changes on the KBLMT website at: bmt.ky.gov. Scroll down to the lower right hand corner of the first page. Click on “Proposed Administrative Changes''. The changes will be there for you to review.

The NEXT step is a public comment period...
Between now and Tuesday, November 30, 2021, you may write and submit written comments on the proposed administrative regulation via email to the Board contact person below. Your comments should be submitted no later than Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at 11:59pm EST.

A public hearing on this administrative regulation will be held at 8:00 AM EST on Monday, November 29, 2021. This Board hearing is open to the public. AMTA-KY members AND fellow LMT'S, may attend the hearing by either ZOOM link or by calling in to the phone number. (Both found below).

Contact Person:
Leah Cooper Boggs
General Counsel
Department of Professional Licensing
500 Mero Street
Frankfort, KY 40601
Email: LBoggs@ky.gov

Only comments about the regulations that are being changed and the proposed changes will be accepted now. Comments about statutes are NOT going to be considered in board discussion at this time.

Again, to submit written requests only, the deadline is Tuesday, November 30th at 11:59pm.

This is your chance to support these changes and have a voice!

PLEASE SHARE this information with your fellow LMT's ASAP!!

In health, Ann
Ann E. Boone, LMT
AMTA-KY Government Relations chair

Please continue to check the KBLMT website for any updates (bmt.ky.gov). We will share updates as we receive them as well. If you have any further questions, please contact Ann E. Boone, LMT at grchair@amtaky.org.
