A Message From Your KY Chapter President
Caren McCarty

Happy New Year! I hope everyone is staying Healthy and Happy. I know 2020 was a rough year for many of us and staying positive has been a challenge. In light of current National events, I am encouraged that 2021 will bring us all new hope, knowing that one day soon, this will all be behind us.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, AMTA National has cancelled all face to face meetings through May, 2021. (This is being done to keep us all safe.) Unfortunately, this means we WILL NOT have our Annual Education Conference in 2021. Usually, we hold our Annual Business Meeting at lunch during our Education Conference, but since we cannot meet face to face we will hold our 2021 Business Meeting virtually. For more information see the article titled "Virtual Annual Business Meeting" in this Newsletter below. I hope you will join us. I am looking forward to the new way of communicating and I hope you are too.

So, what can you expect for future AMTA-KY education conferences? I wish I could say when we can meet again. COVID will definitely control that. I want to assure you that the AMTA-KY Board will be working side by side with the education committee to bring you the stellar, face to face education experience you have come to love. In the meantime, if you need to fulfill your CE requirements, please click here to see what options AMTA has for you. AMTA offers a variety of rigorously vetted massage therapy continuing education classes and training, available online. AMTA members save up to 40%! I personally have taken 14 AMTA online CE's in 2020 and I highly recommend them.
Best Regards, Caren

ATTENTION: COVID VACCINATIONS FOR LMT'S IN KY
For those that are interested in receiving the COVID Vaccination...this is what we know as of now. Our KY LMT laws do not have us under the definition as a Healthcare Provider. The Governor has stated in his address on 1/4/2021 that the term Healthcare Provider is a very broad definition, giving some of us the assumption that we might fall under this category.

I have asked our lobbyist, Bob Babbage, if he can get a clearer picture of when we, as LMT's, will be eligible to receive the COVID Vaccination. As of 1/5/2021, Bob is in the process of gathering more information for us. As this information comes in, we will send further emails to all members.

L&L UPDATE REPORT
12/15/2020

Needless to say, this has been a challenging year on many fronts. Part of the challenge has included moving AMTA’s 2020 massage bill through the legislature. Due to COVID and the resulting government shutdown, the legislature had to set aside our massage bill in favor of being required to pass a one-year state budget by April 5, 2020 (as outlined in the Kentucky state constitution). The bill has been forwarded to the 2021 legislative session, which will be a short session with the requirement to pass a budget once again by the required constitutional deadline of April 15, 2021. Our bill has been pre-filed by...
