A Message from Your

"Sow the seeds of education with intention to bloom a greater future!"

I am extremely excited that the 2024 AMTA-KY Spring Education Conference and Business meeting is quickly approaching! There is still time to register for classes from an amazing group of educators: Doug Nelson, Nathan Nordstrom, Christy Miller, and Marcella Thompson. You can get up to 19 hours of Continuing Education, See the article below for more information on classes, registration and how to register for your hotel room at the AMTA-KY room block rate.

Massage Envy is sponsoring the luncheon at our Annual Business Meeting, Saturday, March 23. We appreciate the hard work and support of Piers Harvey, owner of the Lexington ME and all his fellow owners in Kentucky.

Once again Bob Babbage, our Lobbyist, will speak at the luncheon, Sunday, March 24. Hear all of the latest Government Relations News and ask questions. Ann will also be taking questions. See more information in her GR Report below.

If you want to attend Saturday and/or Sunday luncheon, but are not taking classes, you may sign up by contacting Lori Barnes, Registrar. Cost for each lunch is $35.00 each day

Our vendor hall will have new and familiar faces and companies. We welcome these new vendors: Cryoderm, CoreStones, and Kreative Kreation. We welcome back Lemongrass and Bemer.

Embassy Suites has graciously extended the deadline to reserve a room at the rate of $140 a night. The rooms must be booked by March 8 to receive this lower price. With your hotel room, you are entitled to a full, hot breakfast and an evening reception, just by showing your hotel key.

If you are interested in volunteering with us at the Conference, please contact Ann Phillips at volunteercoorchair@amtaky.org. We would love to have you bring your talents to our Nationally recognized and Award winning group of fabulous volunteers.

Please be on the lookout for your ballot to elect President, Board Member Even Year, and Delegate. Your vote matters. Thank you for taking the time to make your choices known.

Government Relations Report:

February, 29, 2024

Ann Boone, LMT

Government Relations Chair

With Spring just around the corner, I’m pleased to report that we will have Bob Babbage, our lobbyist and my legislative mentor, as our guest speaker at our luncheon on Sunday, March 24, 2024, from 12:00pm-1:30pm. This is a complimentary luncheon for attendees and an opportunity to hear the latest legislative happenings that concern our profession. This will also be a chance for our members to ask Bob questions and voice concerns.

In order for Bob to have all the information needed, it would be helpful to have questions submitted ahead of time to me at: grchair@amtaky.org. He will also be answering any questions from the floor at the luncheon.

If you want to attend Saturday and/or Sunday luncheon, but are not taking classes, you may sign up by contacting Lori Barnes, Registrar.

Cost for each lunch is $35.00 each day

Lori Barnes, registrar@amtaky.org - 502-354-3568

I look forward to seeing you there!

In health, Ann

AMTA-KY State Pin Contest

Are you creative and talented?

Hello Kentucky Members! This past summer, our state gave away the last of our AMTA-KY pins while we were at the National Conference. For those of you who have not been able to go to National, members from other states give out pins from their state and collect pins from other states. Over the years, there have been quite a few very clever designs to represent their state. For example, Wisconsin has done a wedge of cheese and California has used their state flower. See the pictures below of our current AMTA-KY pin and other examples of other AMTA State pins.

Since we have run out and need to order more, now is our opportunity to change the shape and look of our pin! The AMTA-KY Board decided it would be an excellent opportunity for the creative minds of our Kentucky members to have an opportunity to weigh in on what our next pin should look like. Therefore, we are going to hold a contest! The winner will receive early-bird admission to our 2025 AMTA-KY Spring Conference! This is a value of at least $300! The winning design will be used on 1,000 pins that will be given out to members across the Nation. *All entrees must comply with the AMTA National guidelines.

The rules are simple. Your design MUST have our AMTA-KY logo in it. The logo is attached in a JPG format. You are not allowed to alter the logo in any way. No use of profanity, drugs, or alcohol are permitted. All entries must be sent to webmaster@amtaky.org by March 31st at 11:59pm. The designs will be voted via electronic ballot starting April 2nd- 14th. (One vote per member allowed.) The winning design will be sent to National for final approval. Should the winning design not be approved by National for any reason, the second most popular design will be submitted for review. The winner will be announced in the first newsletter after the 2024 AMTA-KY Spring Conference. *All entrees must comply with the AMTA National Guidelines.

We look forward to seeing all of your excellent ways to show off our state to the rest of the country! If you have any questions, please email JoAnn Klein at president@amtaky.org and she will be happy to explain anything to you.

Good luck!!!
