Community Engagement Survey

We Need Your Help!

Here in Lower Makefield Township, we are always looking for ways to better connect with our residents. We’ve launched a Community Engagement and Communications Survey to learn how you receive Township information, what communication methods work best for you, and where we can improve.

Your feedback will help guide future communication efforts, improve resident outreach, and ensure we are providing the information you want, when and where you need it.

The survey only takes 5-8 minutes to complete, and every response will help us build a more informed, connected, and engaged community. We hope you’ll take a moment to share your thoughts.

Historic Preservation Survey Results

Out of 154 respondents, with 139 being Lower Makefield residents, we found that residents overwhelmingly value historic preservation and view it as an important contributor to Lower Makefield's identity and cultural character. However, there is some hesitation that preservation efforts could come at the expense of other community amenities and services. Any approach to historic preservation must be a balanced approach that complements, not competes, with other township priorities.

Most residents consider historic preservation as a community priority along with other offerings like parks.

There is overall agreement that preserving historic resources deserves public attention and investment, and that the Township generally does a good job of maintaining historic resources.

The history imbedded in the community is part of a larger identity and reaffirms community culture as one of unique, desirable character.

Residents generally feel a sense of pride for the community which can be attributed to preservation efforts of the Township's vibrant history thus far.

Most residents would prefer to see a balance between preservation efforts and alternative investment in various other services.

At this time, more work needs to be identified on how to educate the community on the history in Lower Makefield and how to enhance engagement in the future.

Parks and Recreation Professionals Day

Parks and Recreation Professionals Day is celebrated on Friday, July 17, 2026, to honor the dedicated professionals who maintain and enhance parks and recreational programs nationwide. This day recognizes the essential work of park and recreation staff who create safe, welcoming, and accessible spaces, deliver high-quality recreational and educational programs, and contribute to the health, well-being, and resilience of communities. These professionals help build social connections, support mental and physical health, and ensure that parks remain clean, safe, and ready for public use. Lower Makefield is proud to recognize our Parks and Recreation Team for all of their hard work!

"I've served as the Naturalist at the Five Mile Woods Preserve for over 30 years, monitoring and managing the Preserve’s native plants and animals for ecological conservation and enjoyment by the public. I enjoy coordinating with the Friends of Five Mile Woods, scouts and volunteers to implement habitat management and facilities improvement projects, as well as to provide educational outreach opportunities for the public."

"I've always loved being in and around the water, so having the opportunity to work in aquatics truly feels like the perfect fit. One of the most rewarding parts of my job is providing a safe, welcoming place where our community can enjoy the water just as much as I do. What I treasure most, though, is our staff. Watching young people develop confidence, responsibility, leadership, and lifelong friendships is incredibly rewarding. Knowing that this job helps shape their future while creating memories they'll carry with them for years to come is one of the best parts of what I do."
