The JBF Livonia/Novi Spring Sale is right around the corner and you're on a roll! ✅ Clean it, tag it, and drop-off at the event to add a significant boost to your consignor check! Here are some final reminders and tips to get you across the finish line!

Just a reminder, make sure that all items follow the 4 C's: Clean, Complete, Current, and Compliant...

Clean

Check items for stains, fading, or excessive wear. Take a closer look at high chair straps and bassinet padding and spot treat any stained areas. For smooth surfaces, Magic Erasers are a great tool to get rid of scuffs and markings!

Complete

Check that all labeled parts and safety accessories are included in each item (for example, high chair straps must be included, and complete Lego kits must have all pieces included). Any items with missing pieces will be no-thank-you's at JBF.

Current

For cribs and car seats, please check the Car Seat and Crib waivers to make sure your items are within the safety window to be eligible to sell at JBF. In addition, some “vintage” labeled items will be no-thank-you's at JBF if they do not meet current safe-sleep guidelines.

Compliant

Some items may have a safety recall from the Consumer Products and Safety Commission. Many recalls can be fixed and then safely sold at the sale. Check for recalls by searching at CPSC.gov.

Increasing Item Visibility

Tag Placement

While it may seem unimportant, tag placement on an item can greatly impact how quickly that item sells. If the tag is "hidden" and a shopper has to spend extra time searching for it, many shoppers will move on in browsing to save precious shopping time.👕 For clothing items, place safety-pinned tags on the upper right-hand (when looking at the item) top corner of the garment. If using a tagging gun, opt for the manufacturer tag in the neckline, the serger seam in the neckline, or right-side (when you're looking at the item) armpit area. This will ensure the shopper has quick visibility of the tag and can decide if they would like to purchase or pass.

Bundle, Bundle, Bundle

Every JBF shopper loves a DEAL! 🤑 Bundling multiple items together not only will save you precious tagging time, hangers, and other tagging supplies, it will also give shoppers more bang for their buck getting multiple items on their list for one price. Items that are similar or coordinating in the same gender/size are great to bundle together on one hanger. Think shirt/pant sets, multiple t-shirts or onesies, coordinating pajamas, etc. Ultimately, bundling items together will bring you even MORE profitability since your supplies cost will be lower and bundles have a higher chance of selling at full price. 💯

Use Clear Visible Packaging

When packaging loose items or accessories, make sure to use clear plastic bags that will allow the shopper to still see all contents of the item. We recommend adding an extra layer of tape over the seal of the bag to minimize the risk of the bag accidentally coming open during the sale and some contents getting lost.

Fresh is Best

Just a reminder from one busy parent to another...make sure to wash 🧼 all items before selling! If items have been put away in storage, run clothing through a quick wash cycle and wipe down other items to remove that attic or garage smell. Items with a foul odor will be no-thank-you items at JBF, but on the flipside, items that are very fresh and clean always sell first! Everyone loves that fresh, "new" feel when shopping 😉 🛍
