Join DHHS IB Coordinator Brett Flater, current DHHS IB students, and IB Expert John Denine - Executive Director of CASIE: The Center for the Advancement & Study of International Education - to learn more about IB and IB at DHHS specifically.
Our program will contextualize IB at DHHS as part of a broader, international educational approach, and explain the growing role of IB in US schools, especially in urban school districts, to help combat the achievement gap in education. We'll also discuss what IB looks like at DHHS and what our vision for the next 4 years is.
We want to invite parents of current or prospective DHHS students get a sense of what makes IB different than the traditional educational approach guided by the Georgia state standards.

TREATS FOR TEACHERS AND STAFF DAY
ON WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 13th
|
|
On Wednesday, December 13, the PTO Hospitality Committee will once again organize our wonderful tradition of the annual cookie treats for teachers and staff.
WE NEED: HOLIDAY TREATS - HOMEMADE (homemade or bakery-fresh ONLY please) sweet and savory, cookies and other things, to distribute. Treats do not have to be individually wrapped, but they should be portioned so that each person can grab a portion (one cookie or a baggie of snack mix for example) to put in their box.
For each teacher and staff member to receive one dozen treats, we need 140 DOZEN treats donated. So pull out your favorite recipes and double or triple them! Please label any potential allergens (e.g. nuts or peanuts).

Tuesday, November 28th is Giving Tuesday, a global day of giving, and one of the most important times of the year to give back to the causes and communities we care about and support. This year, we are inviting all DHHS families and friends to consider a donation to the Druid Hills Education Foundation.
The Druid Hills Education Foundation (DHEF) was established to promote and enrich the education and development of all DHHS students in the areas of academics, arts, and athletics. DHEF streamlines giving for parents and community supporters, funding the DHHS PTO, the Druid Hills Athletic Association, and the newly established Druid Hills Fine Arts Alliance. DHEF also funds a full-time, school-based mental health professional in the DHHS counseling office.
Donations in any amount are greatly appreciated and directly benefit ALL DHHS students.

Work-Based Learning Opportunities Information
for Juniors & Seniors
|
|
Attention Juniors and Seniors!!!!
Work-Based Learning provides an opportunity for Juniors and Seniors to start preparing/exploring careers while still in high school. Work-Based Learning offers student’s academic and work-site learning opportunities that are related to the student’s career interest area or gaining employability skills. The Work-Based Learning program gives students a unique opportunity for students to learn two ways: school (taught employability skills) and work (at an off-campus site with a business/company). Students can receive course credit by completing a combination of coursework, required weekly work hours, and satisfactory employer evaluations.

DHHS Snack Bar Looking for Volunteers
|
|
Parents, if you have a flexible work schedule and would like to get a chance to observe DHHS from the inside, sign up to serve in the after school snack bar once a month! Volunteers serve from 2:45-4:15 with a partner, selling snacks and having fun getting to see kids interact with each other in a student center space in the gym lobby. The snack bar also needs one person to shop and two subs who can serve on an as-needed basis. For more information or to sign up, contact Kim Goldsmith.
