Attention Parents of the Classes of 2026 & 2027!
You all are invited to attend DHHS' Counseling Department's Freshman & Sophomore presentation. 

We will be discussing graduation and promotion requirements, dual Enrollment and other programs opportunities, and 9th and 10th grade Naviance tasks.
TREATS FOR TEACHERS AND STAFF DAY
ON WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 13th
On Wednesday, December 13, the PTO Hospitality Committee will once again organize our wonderful tradition of the annual cookie treats for teachers and staff. 

WE NEED: HOLIDAY TREATS - HOMEMADE (homemade or bakery-fresh ONLY please) sweet and savory, cookies and other things, to distribute. Treats do not have to be individually wrapped, but they should be portioned so that each person can grab a portion (one cookie or a baggie of snack mix for example) to put in their box.

For each teacher and staff member to receive one dozen treats, we need 140 DOZEN treats donated. So pull out your favorite recipes and double or triple them! Please label any potential allergens (e.g. nuts or peanuts).

Thank you to everyone who has Rallied for the Red Devils so far this year!!

Your donations are actively funding critical initiatives at DHHS, such as:

  • A full-time, school-based mental health professional. Read about this amazing program here.
  • Teacher grants. Read about one example of a teacher grant here.
  • Teacher & staff appreciation events.
  • Materials & supplies for visual arts classes.
  • A theater coach for one performance. 
  • Athletic budgets that provide necessary equipment and supplies for safe training of our student-athletes.
  • Strategic projects to improve athletic facilities and coaching.

Those are just a few of the ways donations are being put into action. Join us so we can do even MORE to support all students at DHHS!

DCSD Board of Education Will Consider Changes to School Calendar
The DeKalb County School District’s Calendar Committee is exploring calendar options for the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 school years to align with other similarly sized districts in close geographic proximity. All calendar options include the following attributes:

  • Independent Learner Days – virtual school days for students and professional learning/workdays for teachers
  • 180 days of instruction for students (including independent learner days)
  • 190 teacher days including one evening workday comprised of parent-teacher conferences (2 per semester)
  • October Fall Break
  • Holidays for all – Labor Day and Dr. Martin L. King, Jr. Day
  • Thanksgiving break – one week in November
  • February Winter Break
  • Spring Break – one week coinciding with most metro area districts
