Dear Druid Hills High School Community,
I am excited to welcome students, parents/guardians, faculty and staff back to school for our 2023 – 2024 school year. Our custodial team along with DCSD operations department and outside contractors have been working daily on campus to clean our school, paint, make maintenance repairs, etc. in order to welcome you back to a clean, functioning facility. Many thanks to the people who worked tirelessly over the break.
School begins on Monday, August 7th at 8:00AM. Our school day runs from 8:10AM – 3:10PM. Breakfast is available daily starting at 7:45AM.
All students will pass through our new Evolv security weapons detection system at the beginning of each school day. Students may wear their backpacks and other bags as they are scanned. Students must remove laptop computers/chromebooks and 3 ring binders from bags before going through security. Read security notification from DCSD –
All students will attend “Advisement” at the beginning of each school day for the first week.
All student parking spaces are assigned by assistant principal, Dr. Jackson. DHHS has a limited number of student spaces. Students participating in work based learning and dual enrollment will have priority, and the remaining spaces will be assigned through a lottery. Dr. Jackson will make announcements regarding assigning student spaces and distributing parking decals. NO STUDENT PARKING ON CAMPUS WITHOUT A DECAL. Dr. Jackson will assign spaces and decals and conduct the lottery during the first two weeks of the semester. Do not park on campus prior to receiving a decal.
Morning drop-off for car riders is in the front drive of the school – use the lane closest to the picnic area (furthest lane from the main building). Afternoon pick-up is in the lower (gym) parking lot – DO NOT use the church parking lot.
Sincerely,
Mark Joyner,
DHHS Principal
