Campus Modernization Update from DHHS PAC
Great news to share on the DHHS Modernization project!

On Monday, August 14th, the District's Board of Education approved the award of design services to MSSA-PBK

MSSA-PBK is a local firm with a strong resume of school renovation projects.

Their first step will be to make assessments of the existing conditions at DHHS by visiting the school and meeting with school administration and stakeholders.

They will take that input and develop Modernization and Site Utilization reports by the end of the year.

They will then develop conceptual design documents early next year.

Welcome Back to School
from Our DCSD District 2 Board of Education Representative,
Ms. Whitney McGinnis
Hello DHHS Families!

I hope you’ve had a wonderful summer and are geared up for another great school year!

For those of you who don’t know me, in addition to representing you on the school board, I am also a mother – with an 8th grade son at Druid Hills Middle and an 11th grade exchange student at Druid Hills High. I have worked in the government and nonprofit sectors for more than 20 years, including as a science and English teacher with the US Peace Corps. It is my honor and privilege to serve you on the DeKalb County School Board.

I am excited to announce that our new superintendent, Dr. Horton, will be joining me for two townhalls this semester. The first is Tuesday, October 3rd at 6:30pm at Druid Hills Middle, and the second is Wednesday, October 11th at 6:30pm at Cross Keys High. Interpretation services will be available at both locations. I hope to see you there!

My goal is always to be accessible and available. If you have a question, comment, or would like to meet, I can be reached at whitney_mcginniss@dekalbschoolsga.org or 404-946-8344. You may also wish to subscribe to my bi-weekly newsletter (whitneyfordekalb.com/mailinglist) or follow me on Facebook (facebook.com/whitneyfordekalb).

Finally, if you would like to watch, attend, or speak at an upcoming school board meeting, that information is available here: dekalbschoolsga.org/board-of-education.

Wishing you a wonderful school year!

COUNSELING DEPARTMENT & FRONT OFFICE NEED OFFICE VOLUNTEER HELP
The first weeks of school are extremely busy for our Counseling Department! Our Main and Counseling Offices have really appreciated volunteers who have helped greet parents of registering students and other visitors, direct them to the right place, and generally assist in providing all visitors with a good first experience of DHHS. They continue to need help with all of these tasks and to help with phones and directing visitors during the day.
