DHHS Parents and Guardians,

We experienced a great first week at Druid Hills High School!!! Teachers and students seemed excited to be back. Freshmen, Sophomores and Seniors attended class meetings (Juniors meet on Monday). We are almost done distributing Chromebooks, and we continue to improve our morning entrance process.

NOTICE: Beginning Monday - We will open the buildings at 7:40 for students to be scanned and report to 1st period. Students should enter their 1st period building when they arrive on campus. Students will hold in their 1st period classrooms until instruction begins at 8:10.

PRINCIPAL JOYNER ANNOUNCES HIS

2023-2024 DHHS ADMINISTRATIVE TEAM

It is my pleasure to announce Ms. Charvonne Bailey as the new Assistant Principal of Discipline at Druid Hills High School. Ms. Bailey has served the past 2 years as the academic coach at Druid Hills High School. Prior to coaching, Ms. Bailey was a science teacher and department chair.

Ms. Arnitra Darden has transitioned from discipline to the new Assistant Principal of Instruction.

Mr. Raft Ingram was recently promoted to Principal of McClendon Elementary School. We are so proud of his accomplishments, and we know he will find success at his new school.

COUNSELING DEPARTMENT & FRONT OFFICE NEED OFFICE VOLUNTEER HELP

The first weeks of school are extremely busy for our Counseling Department! Our Main and Counseling Offices have really appreciated volunteers who have helped greet parents of registering students and other visitors, direct them to the right place, and generally assist in providing all visitors with a good first experience of DHHS. They continue to need help with all of these tasks and to help with phones and directing visitors during the day.

Exciting news for our #DCSD community! We've partnered with Georgia Southern University to bring air purifiers to EVERY DCSD school within the county. This $18M grant program ensures a safer, healthier environment for our students and staff. From bigger spaces like cafeterias to every classroom and office, these purifiers are designed to tackle mold, viruses, and other contaminants. Together, we're creating a cleaner, more secure learning space. Here's to a brighter, fresher future for our DCSD family!

The candidate declaration window for your school’s Principal Advisory Council (PAC) will be open through Friday, August 25, 2023. Complete the relevant form below to run for an elected parent/guardian position on your school’s Council. If you are a current PAC member whose term ends September 30, 2024, you do not need to reapply this election cycle.

Principal Advisory Councils bring parents, school employees, students, and community members together to create a better understanding of and mutual respect for each other's perspectives and share ideas for increasing student achievement and performance.

What is the role of the Principal Advisory Council?

Act as a link between the school and the community
Encourage the engagement of parents and other stakeholders within the school community
Work to increase student achievement through transparent operations and shared best practices
Review the Continuous School Improvement Plan and monitor progress toward goals
Participate in the selection of the school principal
