Roadwork funding: Trucking industry floats fuel tax increase as an alternative to increased tolls
Indiana has the will — Gov. Eric Holcomb continues to make transportation infrastructure a priority, with his “Next Level” agenda that pledges $100 million for it. But the way, or part of it, might be a challenge, with trucking groups presenting legal challenges to toll increases on the Indiana Toll Road.
Federally, infrastructure repairs are claiming a bigger stage as failures – from a cracked steel beam supporting a heavily-traveled bridge in downtown Chicago, to crumbling roads across the country – dominate headlines.

National FFA officers visit Illinois chapters:
Team offers leadership training to students
Illinois students took advantage of the opportunity to learn leadership skills from the six National FFA officers during stops at schools throughout the state. The team of six visited several schools during their experience week, including Pontiac Township High School.

If it was a barn quilt you were looking for as that extra-special gift for a birthday or celebration, the 49th WIU Ag Mech Farm Expo had it. Agronomic services? Ditto. Opportunity to turn that bit of walnut timber into cash? Same. A blend of farm technology, tools and equipment, along with home products and services and WIU clubs and groups, formed up the 49th WIU Ag Mech Farm Expo in Western Hall. Vendors representing businesses in the western Illinois region were on hand to talk to visitors about their products and services.
