- Running aluminum foil through the paper shredder to make tinsel is discouraged.
- Playing Jingle Bells on the push-button phone is forbidden (it runs up an incredible long distance bill)

In spite of all this, the staff is encouraged to have a Happy Holiday.
All I Needed to Know About Life I learned from Santa
- Encourage people to believe in you.
- Always remember who's naughty and who's nice.
- Don't pout.
- It's as much fun to give as it is to receive.
- Some days it's ok to feel a little chubby.
- Make your presents known.
- Always ask for a little bit more than what you really want.
- Bright red can make anyone look good.
- Wear a wide belt and no-one will notice how many pounds you've gained.
- If you only show up once a year, everyone will think you're very important.
- Whenever you're at a loss for words, say: "HO, HO, HO!"

Thank You to Everyone Who Participated in The 2016 Hefner Furniture Christmas Parade
From everyone here at the Chamber Office, we want to say a heartfelt "Thank You" to all who participated in this year's "Hefner Furniture Christmas Parade"!
Whether you were our sponsor, a parade participant, a vendor booth host, our entertainment, a volunteer, an organizer, a parks or street department worker, a police officer, a marketer, or a spectator, you played a very important role! We need each and every one of you in order for this event to be successful --- and suc
cessful it was!!
As I rode in the parade for the second year in a row, I am excited to say that the community really stepped up this year! There was hardly a bare spot from parade beginning to end along the route! I would venture to say that spectator attendance doubled as compared to last year!
As always, we are keeping notes to ensure more and more improvements for next year, and we hope that you will again be apart of this fantastic holiday event in 2017! Mark your calendars -- next year's parade will be on December 7th!

Holiday Investor Meeting - December 20
The December Investor Meeting is a Special Holiday Meeting! This meeting will be held at Elizabeth Hall and will last 1/2 hour longer than regular investor meetings!
Join us for a special Chamber "Holiday" Investor Meeting on December 20, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at Elizabeth Hall in Leadington. Lunch is being catered by Glenda Straughn this month.
There is no set fee for lunch this month, however, we will be accepting cash donations. Any proceeds made from the luncheon will be used to purchase more socks & undies for the Chamber Cares Tushies & Toes Holiday Drive.
Special
HOLIDAY ENTERTAINMENT by the
Central High School Sing Choir with a limited business agenda and lots of time for networking!
Because we've had so much fun with it holiday's past, we're again having a GIFT EXCHANGE! Bring a WRAPPED GIFT, with your BUSINESS CARD ATTACHED for the exchange! What better way to promote your business/organization than to capture someone's (or, in this case, possibly everyone's) attention with a gift?!
Remember, creative wrapping of your gift is sometimes the key to being the "most wanted" gift on the table. If everyone is fighting for your gift, chances are, your business/organization will be highly remembered before the gift is even revealed!
We will also be doing the Final Collection for the Chamber Cares Tushies & Toes Drive at this meeting. If your business or organization is a collection point, or if you would simply like to donate items, we ask that you please bring all your donations to this meeting. We will be taking a photo of all the donations and collection point sponsors.
This is an Excellent Relationship Building Opportunity! And, you never know what other little "Holiday Surprises" might be in store for you!!
Monthly investor meetings provide Chamber investors with a variety of information through guest speakers. Topics range from small business information to governmental issues and assistance to community interests. Monthly meetings keep investors abreast of current chamber happenings and provide an excellent networking opportunity.

Installation Banquet to Feature "The Royal Dumpe" - One of St. Louis' Longest Running Dinner Theater Groups
You're invited to the Chamber's Annual Installation Banquet on Friday, January 20, 2017!
The evening begins at 5:30 p.m. with social hour; dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. with entertainment by "The Royal Dumpe"!
At this year's Installation Banquet, we will Step back into 16th century England with King Henry VIII and his bevy of wenches! It's a riotous night of bawdy, naughty, but never really vulgar, merry making and song as you are transformed back to the days of yore!
About The Royal Dumpe Dinner Theater
The Royal Dumpe Dinner Theater opened in 1973 on the historic Laclede's Landing in St. Louis, Missouri. It has St. Louis's largest dinner theater cast, and has run with the same script since it opened.
The show is a fun mix of songs, audience participation, jokes by the Fool and other cast members, as well as some story telling. It has several variations to its show, including a Christmas style show.
It is billed as the poor man's Medieval Times, featuring a bevy of busty wenches, all improvisational comediennes who will stay in character throughout the evening. The evening delivers non-stop corniness, with tons of off-color humor and a visit from Henry VIII himself.
Its current owner, Jim Dannek, plays the role of Itchy Rumpe (an Innkeeper) who keeps watch over the ruckus house, until his Majesty, King Henry VIII, arrives. Along the way you meet a familiar cast of characters, including his jester, Master Patch Piece, Rosie Rumpe, and a slew of other cast members with equally bawdy names.
Also on the Evening's Agenda
As always, we will install the 2017 Board of Directors and Officers at the banquet, and there will again be a number of awards presented to various chamber investors and deserving individuals. Awards include the Chamber's "Friend" and "Lifetime Achievement Award".
Reserve your tickets now. The cost is $25.00 per person in advance and $30.00 per person at the door.
For more information, or to reserve your tickets, call the Chamber office at 573-431-1051.
We hope you'll plan to join us for a contagious evening of spontaneous fun!
Save the dates have been emailed & official invitations to arrive in the near future! Watch your mailbox!

These 16 Tech Gadgets Are a Must-Have This Christmas
By: Rhett Power, Co-Founder Wild Creations

What to get that tech geek in your life.
I know its Thanksgiving when my business partner starts playing Christmas music throughout the office. But that has nothing to do with this post. It just means its time to start shopping for that tech geek in your life. Whether you're looking for something special for that friend or family member, here are 16 tech gifts you can put on your list.
1.
Amazon Echo-Dot (
$49.99 at Amazon)
The little sister of Amazon Echo, this gadget is essentially the next coming of Siri. With the help of Alexa, you're able "to play music, control smart home devices, provide information, read the news, set alarms, and more," per Amazon.
2.
NES Classic Edition (
$59.99 at Best Buy)
One of the greatest gift finds for the gamer on your list. This plug-and-play version of the Nintendo Entertainment System comes with a controller and HDMI cable to connect to your modern TV. Once set up, you can play Super Mario Bros. and other classic games included with the system. The drawback? It's sold out pretty much everywhere. You will need good luck and timing to score this gift.

The Boss's Christmas Wish List

What every entrepreneur really needs this season and in the New Year.
Dear Santa:
I been pretty good this year, so I'm going to ask for a lot, but they're all things I could really use in the month ahead.
1.
Humility. Please give me the ability to put my own contributions into perspective and remember that, without employees, there would be no bosses nor would any work get done.
2.
Clarity. I don't want my team guessing about what I really want them to accomplish, so please give me the ability to direct their activities in clear, simple sentences that everyone will understand.
3.
Forbearance. When I feel that I can do a certain job better than the team member to whom I've assigned that job, I tend to micro-manage, so please give me the wisdom to coach when asked but otherwise avoid interfering.
4.
Perspective. Please help me to keep my expectations and plans reasonable, to give my employees sufficient time to get the job done, and to assign the right tasks to the right people.
