Respect for Others Brings Peace & Harmony
The Christmas season is that time of year when we especially cherish peace and goodwill. Peace in the world, in our communities, in our relationships and in our hearts. Great spiritual teachers tell us that the peace we long for is based upon developing the qualities of respect and tolerance. Cultivating these spiritual qualities mean that more than just being a time or a season, Christmas becomes a state of mind and heart.
Christmas is almost upon us and along with the fun and festivities, come the stresses and tensions of trying to squeeze everything in before the end of the year. It’s almost as if we have to squeeze two months into one.
I have been mulling over what to say about yoga with a Christmas theme. I had ideas of talking about coping with the stress of Christmas with yoga, or coping with the Christmas heat wave with yoga, or hot tips for yoga gifts, or even what to do if we eat too much! But ended up deciding on the very important topic of how yoga can help us with the open hearted Christmas spirit of peace and goodwill.
A hand mudra is a gesture usually used in meditation practices to help direct the energy towards the brain. Because each of the fingers are said to symbolise certain aspects of existence then stimulating them will have a subtle effect in these areas.
Clap, sway and dance as we weave together melody, music and mantra. Immerse yourself in this simultaneously meditative, exhilarating and fun activity known as kirtan, the heart and soul of an evening at The Mantra Room.
