Nominations Open for Annual Awards

Chamber members don't just operate businesses; they are the heartbeat of our communities, making a profound impact in a host of ways. Beyond providing essential products and services, they are job creators, employing thousands of local residents and contributing vital tax revenue to our communities. However, their influence goes far beyond the economic realm. These businesses are the unsung heroes, offering unwavering support to local organizations, non-profits, sports groups, cultural institutions, and more.

Every year, we have the privilege of singling out a select few members whose exceptional business success and outstanding community support set them apart. The spotlight is on these remarkable individuals and businesses during our Annual Meeting and Awards Breakfast, a celebration of their remarkable contributions. The big event is set to take place on January 18, 2024.

We invite you to be a part of this recognition process by nominating a member business or individual whose impact deserves acknowledgement. It's your chance to shine a light on those who go above and beyond. Don't miss out—download the nomination form now

Every holiday season, HESSCO offers special meals to older adults who cannot prepare meals for themselves and will be alone during the holidays. Each holiday meal costs about $10 to prepare and HESSCO must raise all the funds for those meals since they are outside of the normal Meals on Wheels food delivery program.

HESSCO will be delivering more than 600 holiday meals this year. You can give online by going to https://hessco.org/donate/. Click on the black Donate button which will take you to a secure donation portal. There is a field that reads “My donation is for” with a drop down menu that includes the “Holiday Meals Sponsor” option.

UMass Boston has embarked on a transformative Campus Master Plan—a key pillar supporting their strategic vision.

The Master Plan is more than just blueprints; it's a testament to our dedication to student and community enrichment. Rooted in the unique energy of our harbor location, we're cultivating a space that embodies care for all—a true Beacon haven.

Hiring Skilled Workers Remains Top Challenge, Shows MA Business Leader Survey

Reporting that hiring and finding workers with the right skills continues to be a top challenge, an overwhelming majority (95%) of Massachusetts business leaders supports Governor Maura Healey’s efforts to improve our education system to ensure more students are better prepared for college and/or careers, according to a new MBAE survey. Only a quarter (25%) believe that the state’s workforce currently has the qualifications needed to succeed in their respective industries.

The survey underscores a vital need to forge stronger connections between our students and the good-paying careers available now in our growing health, life sciences, clean tech, and other sectors. The survey finds that business leaders think our schools could do more to prepare students for careers. (Read more here.)
