Village Awarded $35,000 Grant for
Municipal Park Improvements
| |
Amberley Village was recently awarded a $35,000 grant for improvements to the Municipal Park, including grading of the ballfields and the addition of new ADA-compliant drinking fountains and picnic tables on the grounds. The grant was awarded by Hamilton County Public Health for projects that encourage outdoor activities to promote health and social distancing. Amberley Village anticipates completion of the installations and field-grading in the Spring of 2024.
The outdoor tubular drinking fountains and bottle filling stations will enhance the Municipal grounds, and bring our facilities to ADA compliance.
The recycled plastic picnic tables selected for Municipal grounds include ADA-compliant tables for the upper playground and the lower park between the ballfields.

Hamilton County Prosecutor Sends Letter to Residents of Targeted Neighborhoods
In case you missed it, Hamilton County Prosecutor Melissa Powers recently sent a letter to residents of communities targeted by burglaries due to organized crime. The letter was shared out to Village residents in an email and on the Village website on November 22, just prior to Thanksgiving.
The letter is being republished in the December E-News to ensure that all residents are aware of the regional scope of the break-ins, and to assure neighbors that law enforcement is working together to bring these criminals to justice.
"The important thing to remember is if you see something, say something," says Chief Wallace. "What may seem insignificant to you could be just the detail we're looking for to make an arrest."
He encourages residents to reach out anytime day or night to 513-531-2040 with reports of suspicious behavior or information that might lead to an arrest or recovery of stolen property.

Sidewalk Installation on Section Road
Residents are advised that a sidewalk installation is underway along Section Road near Fair Oaks Drive. The installation is being financed by the property owner, and is being placed in the right of way in accordance with permitting standards of the Village Code. The permitting process included certified engineering drawings submitted to the Village, confirmation that there will be no disruption of utilities, and proof that the project meets construction requirements and is ADA compliant.
Please note that the sidewalk will connect with the walkway at CZE, and will take 4 - 6 weeks for completion. The sidewalk is the sole responsibility of the property owner, including all maintenance, repairs and upkeep, including the clearing of snow, leaves and debris. When completed, the sidewalk will measure five feet in width, and portions of the walkway will include handrails.

Everyone knows the importance of safety, especially when you're out on the road. But did you know that pedestrian safety is equally if not more important than it is for drivers? Pedestrians have significantly less response time than automobiles, and are clearly far less powerful. But a few important tips can keep you safer while walking, and ensure that drivers are more aware that you're there!
-Always walk facing traffic.
-Wear reflective clothing and/or accessories, especially while walking at night. Flashlights are also excellent for increasing visibility.
-Look left, right and left again before crossing the street, and continue looking until safely across
-Make eye contact with drivers before crossing any street.
-Do not walk while texting, and avoid distractions while crossing the street.
-Avoid wearing headphones, or ensure you are able to hear approaching traffic by using only one earbud or shifting a speaker to the outside of the ear.
-Never cross a street from behind a parked car; cross at crosswalks or corners to be sure you can be seen before crossing.
Being aware of your surroundings and mindful of your visibility can significantly increase pedestrian safety. Additional information is available via the button below:

After three years of consistent rates, Rumpke costs will increase slightly in 2024 and 2025 to extend the current contract.
Amberley Village has long held contractual agreements with Rumpke for trash and recycling services. For the past three years, residential rates to Amberley Village customers have remained consistent $15.69 per month for weekly trash and recycling services. The Village also requests bids on these services to ensure residents are getting the best possible rates.
Beginning on January 1, 2024, Rumpke rates will increase to $16.40 per month, representing a $0.71 increase over 2021-23. The 2024 rate extends the original contract with Rumpke, and allows for an additional rate increase in 2025, when the cost will be $17.14 per month.
In a cost-comparison, the Village found that its fees remained at or below nearby municipalities for Rumpke services. For more information, see Legislative Action below.
