Opening for interim appointment - Santa Barbara City Council District 6

Do you live in Santa Barbara City District 6?  Do you want to bring our progressive feminist values to the City Council?  Councilmember Gregg Hart's election to the County Board of Supervisors has created a vacancy in the District 6 seat.  A special election will be held in November 2019 to fill the seat.   The Council will appoint a qualified candidate to serve on an interim basis until the candidate elected at the special election takes office.  Applications for appointment will be accepted from January 9, 2019, through January 28, 2019.

Young Feminists Read

Young Feminists Read is a monthly reading discussion group that explores a variety of political, intellectual, and cultural topics of interest to feminists. Each month, we read and share thoughts about a few select readings on a particular theme. Our past discussion topics have included Motherhood, Incarcerated Women, Consent Culture, and Poetry by Women. All readings are made available online and have included passages from books, magazines, newspapers, blogs, academic journals, and websites.

Join us Monday, December 17, at 6:00 p.m. at the Santa Barbara Public Market for our discussion on the Body and Food.

Check out our Young Feminists Read Facebook page for monthly readings and future events here

T-Shirt NOW

In collaboration with Youth Interactive, SBWPC has designed a T-shirt graphic to commemorate our 30 years of fighting for feminism, from marching in the streets to a seat at the table. The fist represents the power and strong feminist voice that SBWPC has represented in our community.
