Michigan's Interfaith Coalition Needs You
Bishop Perry, in partnership with Michigan’s Interfaith Coalition, is asking for individuals, faith-organizations, or friend-organizations to join the Coalition to learn more and do more about Michigan’s no-fault auto reform bill that took effect on July 2, 2021.
Legislators in Michigan signed the no-fault auto law reform bill into law in 2019. This law was aimed at lowering the state’s high insurance rates. The law, however, has had devastating impacts on thousands of crash survivors and medical-care workers in Michigan.

Practice Gratitude and Change the World
The United Thank Offering (UTO) is a ministry of The Episcopal Church for the mission of the whole church. Through UTO, individuals are invited to embrace and deepen a personal daily spiritual discipline of gratitude. UTO encourages people to notice the good things that happen each day, give thanks to God for those blessings and make an offering for each blessing using a UTO Blue Box. UTO is entrusted to receive the offerings, and to distribute the 100% of what is collected to support innovative mission and ministry throughout The Episcopal Church and Provinces of the Anglican Communion.
If you would like to make a gift, visit https://unitedthankoffering.com/ or mail checks made out to Episcopal Diocese of Michigan (with memo to UTO) to:

Sacred Ground Series: Open to All
Sacred Ground is part of Becoming Beloved Community, The Episcopal Church’s long-term commitment to racial healing, reconciliation, and justice in our personal lives, our ministries, and our society. This series is open to all, and especially designed to help white people talk with other white people. Participants are invited to peel away the layers that have contributed to the challenges and divides of the present day – all while grounded in our call to faith, hope and love.
A number of congregations in our Diocese have already offered the Sacred Ground program. However, it was felt that a Diocesan Sacred Ground program would be valuable to those congregations who may not have the resources to facilitate their own dialogue circles. The Diocesan-wide program will also offer an opportunity to build community across congregations.
If you are interested in participating in a Diocesan Sacred Ground dialogue circle, visit the Diocesan Sacred Ground web page at www.edomi.org/sacredground view a video from Presiding Bishop Michael Curry and complete the registration form, or contact Sister Vee at sistervee@edomi.org.

Updates to Safe Church
SafeChurch has migrated to a new platform hosted by Praesidium Academy. Safe Church, Safe Communities has been designed to be a self-paced online training that individuals can fit into their own schedules. New modules created by the national Church’s SafeChurch Task Force began to roll out in mid-July. These modules contain entirely new material, and all of the new modules will be available in the coming months. At that time, the old materials that have been used for SafeChurch training will be retired. The new modules are:
- Introduction and Theological Background
- Inclusion of all God’s People
- Healthy Boundaries
- Power Imbalances
- Pastoral Relationships
- Abuse and Neglect
- Bullying
- Anti-harassment
- Organizational Rules and Specific Ministry Policies
The “Track 1, Track 2, Track 3” designations have been retired, and the national Church is currently creating a new, streamlined chart to let users know which modules they need to take appropriate to their role within the church. The Diocese of Michigan will be reworking and revamping its web page to accommodate a new registration process and update the links to Safe Church, Safe Communities training. The basic modules should be available to take in a couple of weeks! Keep an eye on your Weekly Connection for updates! Questions? Contact Sister Veronica Mary at sistervee@edomi.org
