Greetings neighbor!

The recent chaotic weather has been a nice reminder that we do in fact live in Texas. The weather could not have been more perfect for the 20th annual Veterans Day Parade, which took place this past Saturday.

After the parade festivities, VFW Post 76 and District 1 teamed up to host the 5th annual District 1 Veterans Day Luncheon. Attendees enjoyed good food and great conversation, and I had the opportunity to meet with some amazing veterans from World War II, Korean War, Vietnam, and more. It is vital that Military City USA honors our brave veterans 365 days a year.

Recently, the City of San Antonio released its Comprehensive Domestic Violence Plan after the Status of Women in San Antonio report indicated domestic and family violence was prevalent and on the rise locally. I applaud the efforts put forth by the stakeholders who developed this plan as it is a symbol of the City's commitment to safe, healthy, and happy families.

I want to hear from you about the Domestic Violence Report or any other issue! Please contact (210) 207-0900 or email me at if you have any questions or recommendations.

Download the Homeless Resource Guide Here!
The most recent “the Point in Time (PIT) Count" showed there are 2,872 homeless persons in our shelters and on our streets as of January 2019. The total number of folks who are homeless has decreased by 6% since 2018, so we must continue to approach this issue with compassion.

There are quite a number of resources available to help homeless folks or those who are about to become homeless. The Homeless Resource Guide, compiled by the San Antonio Regional Alliance for the Homelessness and the Department of Human Resources, contains contact information for resources like emergency shelters, utility assistance, short-term housing legal assistance, food/clothing assistance, and medical assistance including mental health and substance treatment.

Please feel free to download this guide, and share it with your neighbors.
