What We Heard From You –Stakeholder Survey

We just wrapped up our 2025 Stakeholder Survey.

While we review this year’s results, we want to share a few key takeaways from last year’s survey and clarify our role.

The Downtown Improvement District plays a direct role in keeping our neighborhood clean, safe, and vibrant. Some issues you raised are outside our authority to directly fix, including:

  • City infrastructure such as sidewalks, lighting, and street repairs
  • Placement and maintenance of public trash cans and recycling bins
  • Social challenges such as individuals experiencing homelessness
  • Law enforcement and ordinances including loitering laws

We cannot resolve these items on our own. We do, however, actively advocate with the City of Omaha and the appropriate agencies so your concerns are heard and represented.

Downtown Street Treebed Inventory Project

ODIDA has created a living inventory of street trees and sidewalk flowerbeds across Downtown.

Each location is mapped so staff and partners can track care, plan replanting, and see who is responsible for maintenance.

The map supports projects like the Old Market Arboretum and ongoing replanting of beds and trees throughout the district.

Snow Season Reminder

Winter is on the way, and now is the time to brush up on who does what when the snow starts to fall in Downtown Omaha.

From reporting icy, uncleared sidewalks to keeping your own frontage, mailboxes, and hydrants clear, a little preparation goes a long way toward keeping everyone safe. '

Take a moment to review our snow season reminders so pedestrians, property owners, the City, and ODIDA can work together to keep Downtown walkable all winter long.

ODIDA Website| Big Refresh Coming

A new ODIDA website is coming soon, built to be a true informational hub for everyone who lives, works, and visits Downtown Omaha.

The site will make it easier to see how our programs impact the district including highlights of our recent projects. You’ll also be able to quickly find construction and streetcar information, board and committee updates, and practical resources for residents, property owners, and businesses.

As we get closer to launch, we’ll share more details on how you can use the site to stay informed and help your teams, tenants, and visitors navigate Downtown.
