WELCOME WEEKEND 2025 | Official Agenda

WELCOME WEEKEND | Additional Move-In Information for New Students

Tiffin will be buzzing with activity, including a downtown farmer’s market, a car show near campus and some nearby construction. To ensure a smooth trip, we recommend adding an extra 30 minutes to your commute and entering town from the west side.

On move-in day:

  • You’ll have 20 minutes to unload your car, with TU faculty and staff ready to lend a hand.
  • One person needs to stay in the car at all times while things are being moved out of the car.
  • Items will be placed on the sidewalk right away so the line can keep moving.
  • Vehicles must be fully unloaded before anything is moved into the building.
  • Once empty, please move your vehicle to designated parking and take the TU shuttle back to campus.
  • Time slots matter: Please arrive at your assigned time. Early arrivals will be asked to wait until their slot, and late arrivals will need to wait until the end of the move-in period.

Following these steps helps keep traffic flowing and ensures a smooth, stress-free start for everyone. After unloading, you’ll have plenty of time to settle in before brunch/lunch or our first required event.

IMPORTANT CAMPUS UPDATE | Parking at St. Mary’s Prohibited During Academic Year

Please be advised that parking at St. Mary’s will no longer be permitted during the academic year. All vehicles parked in this lot will be subject to towing at the owner’s expense.

To help ease congestion in campus parking areas, we strongly encourage students living on campus to walk to class whenever possible. Faculty, staff and commuting students should plan ahead and use only designated University parking lots to avoid towing or citations.

If you have questions regarding parking regulations or available spaces, please contact Campus Safety and Security at security@tiffin.edu

We appreciate your cooperation as we work to ensure compliance with parking regulations and maintain positive relationships with our neighbors. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Laptops, calculators, and more are available for checkout in the library!

You must:

  • Be willing to sign a financial agreement for lost and broken equipment charges

Laptop checkouts are for the full semester and are due – no exceptions – the Friday of finals week (December 12).

Limited supplies are available, so get in early if you don’t have what you need to begin your classes. Student workers cannot process transactions for laptops, which means you must come in between 9am and 5pm, Monday through Friday.

Be sure to watch your email for return reminders on all library items. Overdue fees apply for all late returns, will prevent you from borrowing items in the future and could have an impact on your student financial account.

THIS MONTH IN TU HISTORY | August 2004

Peer Leader Program Impacts Students - The transition to college can often be a stressful experience for incoming freshmen. Tiffin University recognizes this, and through its peer leader program, students are provided with a safety net from the first step they take on campus during TU’s weekend-long Freshman Institute, held annually in August. TU’s peer leader program, now in its sixth year, has become a model program, matching freshmen with upperclassmen to help new students adjust to college life, not only academically, but socially as well. Rebecca Fox, Assistant Professor of Mathematics and Coordinator of the Tiffin University Peer Leader Program, brought the idea of developing peer leaders to TU

after attending a first-year student experience conference in 1998. The program was implemented during the 1998 Fall Semester. The results, she says, have been nothing less than extraordinary, and not just in terms of making the freshman student experience a smooth transition, but also for the peer leaders themselves, who have the chance to take on leadership roles.
